Doyon Drilling Makes Progress on Cleanup After Alaska Rig Incident
After a drilling rig was damaged during a move in January, Doyon Drilling is now in the second phase of a three-part response. This phase involves dismantling the rig, removing fluids and debris, and hauling salvage away. The rigs hydraulic oil, totaling 135 gallons, was successfully decontaminated without any spills. The site poses no risk to nearby communities, infrastructure, air quality, water sources, wildlife, or other environmental factors. Phase one, which included initial containment and planning, has been completed. Phase three will focus on final cleanup, remediation, and checks through spring breakup and a summer visit. Safety checks are ongoing, and an independent investigator is examining the cause of the damage.
