Dr. Thomas McCarty, a 73-year-old marathoner from Anchorage, Alaska, is preparing for his third Boston Marathon in 2026. After a scary incident in 2013, he joined the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute team to raise funds for research, inspired by his brother-in-laws death from colon cancer and his fathers prostate cancer fight. Despite the challenges, McCarty trains rigorously on Anchorage bike trails and plans to complete a full 26-mile run before the race on April 20th.
