"All over the world, they're emptying their prisons into our country, they're emptying their mental institutions into our country. It stopped as of one o’clock this afternoon.” After returning to the Oval Office, Trump signed a series of proclamations and executive orders to implement border security measures.Support this podcast: https://secure.anedot.com/franklin-news-foundation/ce052532-b1e4-41c4-945c-d7ce2f52c38a?source_code=xxxxxxRead more:Trump issues series of border security orders 'to protect America from invasion'Trump declares national energy emergency Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Ep 319New York’s Congestion Pricing Toll System Gets Underway

(The Center Square) — The nation's first congestion pricing system got underway in New York over the weekend after a last-ditch legal challenge failed to block the controversial new tolling program. New York’s new toll for drivers entering Manhattan below 60th Street began just after midnight on Sunday after a U.S. District Court judge late Friday denied New Jersey’s push to keep the plan from going into effect. Under the program, passenger cars will pay a $9 toll between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m. on weekdays and between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on weekends. New York officials say the toll will reduce tailpipe pollution and provide more funding for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which operates the public transit system. Ep 314Pentagon Says East Coast Drone Sightings Not a Threat

(The Center Square) – Federal officials said Tuesday that drones spotted along the East Coast over the past month do not pose a threat to national security or public safety. Four federal agencies – the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Defense – issued a statement Tuesday after weeks of reports about drone activity. In some cases, airports have been closed as a result of the drones. The Pentagon statement said that the majority of the more than 1 million drones registered with the FAA are used legally for commercial, recreational or governmental purposes. Ep 312Increase in Food Costs Drives Rise in Inflation

(The Center Square) – Newly released inflation data shows a rise in producer prices. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics on Thursday released its Producer Price index, a key marker of inflation, which rose 0.4% in November. The November increase is part of a 3% increase in the past year, which BLS pointed out is “the largest rise since moving up 4.7% for the 12 months ended February 2023.” Much of the PPI was driven by a rise in food prices, most notably the cost of eggs. “A quarter of the November rise in prices for final demand goods is attributable to a 54.6-percent jump in the index for chicken eggs,” BLS said. “Prices for fresh and dry vegetables, fresh fruits and melons, processed poultry, non-electronic cigarettes, and residential electric power also increased.” Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. After meeting with President-elect Donald Trump’s border czar Tom Homan, Adams held a news conference expressing his support for Homan’s efforts. When asked if Homan requested help from the city to target the most violent criminals illegally in the country, Adams said his goal “is clearly again with my target area.” Adams, a Democrat, said his goal aligned with Homan’s to improve public safety and reduce crime. Ep 288Former Border Patrol Agent Asks 23 Years After 9/11: What Does ‘Safe’ Mean?

Twenty-three years after the terrorist attacks of 9/11, Americans are not any safer than they were before because of a border crisis facilitated by the Biden-Harris administration, national security experts argue. One U.S. Army veteran who later served as a Border Patrol agent for 10 years but left citing Biden-Harris policies told The Center Square that Americans’ safety and security means something different depending on the administration in charge. Since fiscal 2021, more than 12.5 million foreign nationals have illegally entered the country under Vice President Kamala Harris, designated the “border czar” by President Joe Biden. That's by far the greatest number of any administration in U.S. history. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Ep 287Trump, Harris Enter the Home Stretch With Question Marks Around Next Debate

Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are less than eight weeks away from election day, and whether they will debate again remains in question. The two faced off for their first-ever debate Tuesday night at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. Before this week's debate, neither campaign had agreed to another debate. Harris' campaign released a statement welcoming a second debate, but whether Trump's team feels the same, and whether the two camps can agree on the network to host and the details of the debate remain major question marks. Ep 285Biden-Harris Admin Under Fire for Pressuring Facebook to Censor Americans

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg kicked off a firestorm of controversy this week when he sent a letter to the U.S. House Judiciary Committee admitting his mistake in caving to pressure from the Biden administration to censor Americans’ posts that contradicted the administration’s viewpoints on COVID-19. "In 2021, senior officials from the Biden Administration, including the White House, repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain COVID-19 content, including humor and satire, and expressed a lot of frustration with our teams when we didn't agree," the letter said. Zuckerberg also said that Facebook made posts about Hunter Biden’s laptop harder to see during the 2020 election at the request of the FBI, the latest evidence of coordinated social media censorship driven by the federal government. Ep 284Polling Mixed on Tight Harris-Trump Race

New polling on Thursday showed Kamala Harris with a widening margin over former President Donald Trump in Reuters/Ipsos poll published Thursday. It found Harris leaders Trump 45% to 41%. Among registered voters, the four-percentage point lead was more significant than the one-point lead Harris had over Trump in the outfit's last poll in July. The poll had a 2% margin of error. Over in polling guru Nate Sliver's latest models, Harris didn't fare as well. "Although we wouldn't advise worrying too much about the difference between a 52/48 race one way versus a 48/52 race the other way – it's not a big difference – this wasn't a good day for Kamala Harris in our model, as Donald Trump is the slight favorite for the first time since August 3," Silver wrote in the Silver Bulletin. "There's one big reason for that – Pennsylvania, which is the tipping-point state more than one-third of the time and where it's been quite a while since we've seen a poll showing Harris leading." Ep 283Biden Explains Why He Dropped Out of Presidential Race

President Joe Biden explained to reporters Tuesday in more detail his rationale for suddenly ending his reelection bid earlier this year. Biden told reporters that his race against former President Donald Trump would have been close and that he “could have won.” Biden said he wasn’t “that far behind” but that he was worried that he would hurt Senate and House Democrats running for their seats. “What have happened though, if the discussion had been, was I going to cost seats for Democrats, that would have been the whole subject matter for the remainder of the campaign,” Biden told reporters at Chicago O'Hare International Airport before boarding Air Force One. “You'd have to cover it, that would be the issue, and it would give him an advantage.” Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. The federal data comes just days after the national debt surpassed $35 trillion, an unprecedented figure that worries economists and budget analysts. Ep 277Failures of Secret Service Mount as Senators Demand Accountability

The failures of the Secret Service around the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump are mounting but members of Congress say there’s not been enough accountability. Former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned last week after a U.S. House hearing failed to get answers.
