What is "abusive dance"? That may seem like a strange question but for Mary Bawden, it's one she wants parents of all young dancers to be able to answer. Through DA:NCE (Dance Awareness No Child Exploited), Bawden is working to end what she calls the hypersexualization of girls in dance. In addition to being inappropriate, especailly for very young students, Bawden also says an oversexualized dance environment could invite groomers and traffickers.
