<p>At its height the Iroquois Confederacy (or Haudenosaunee) - a union of the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, and Seneca nations - controlled lands from Quebec to Ohio.</p><br><p>Its origin story goes back to the legend of the warrior Hiawatha and the Peacemaker.
