The LA Kings closed out their first road trip of the season with a loss in the standings and multiple losses on the ice. Forward Andreas Athanasiou was ruled ineligible to play before the game and defensemen Matt Roy and Sean Walker were lost to injury during the game. Roy was driven head first into the boards by Kevin Fiala, while Sean Walker was struck in the face by a rising slap shot fired by Matt Dumba. Despite the injuries, the team seemed to rally late in the game before ultimately losing 5-3. Following the game, Head Coach Todd McLellan and Drew Doughty were made available to the media and offered up rare insight and sincerity when talking about the difficult circumstances the game presented.
