The Northern Irish police procedural, "Blue Lights," has been called "Ireland's answer to the Wire" for its both gritty and compassionate depiction of rookie cops working the hard scrabble streets of Belfast. Season 1 was nominated for 4 IFTAs (Irish Film and Television Awards) including Best New Drama.
