Show Notes
On this episode of the Alix Turoff Nutrition podcast, Alix sits down with Erin aka @FoodScienceBabe (not to be confused with The Food Babe). Erin has a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of MN and has worked in the food industry for 10+ years in both the conventional and natural/organic sectors as an Engineer/Food Scientist. She started her page in 2018 in an effort to combat myths about food and the food industry. She once had many false beliefs surrounding food, and as a result, she now presents evidence-based information so that consumers can make decisions based on facts rather than fears. In addition to being a stay-at-home mom to her 5-year-old daughter, she consults for small start-up food companies doing product development work as well nutrition panel creation and regulatory guidance.
Some of the topics we covered in this episode include:
- Organic vs conventional- why the Dirty Dozen is inaccurate, how organic/conventional food impacts the environment
- GMOs
- Pesticides and Glyphosate
- "Clean" wine
- ...and more!
