South Africa’s consumer inflation rate has remained relatively low, with Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) reporting a headline inflation rate of 2.7% in March 2025, down from higher levels in previous years. Food price inflation specifically slowed to 2.2% in March 2025 from 1.9% in February, a significant drop from the 13.4% peak in January 2023, the highest in 14 years.
