AgilEmpath Season 3-The Resilient Mind; Episode 3- EMOTIONS

“The first step in controlling emotions is to recognize that you have control over your emotions. The second step is to realize that you are not responsible for the cause of the emotion but rather for the management of the emotion.” ~Dr. Caroline LeafThere is a natural flow in our human system when we express our emotions in a healthy way instead of repressing them thus stopping this flow. We learn to hide emotions due to social norms in various settings throughout our lives. Social Cognitive & Affective Neuroscience teaches us there is an effect on our body and mind due to repression and expression of emotions. The key is to regulate the emotions that occur. What does this process look like?Recognize you have control over your emotions. We are responsible for the management of the emotion, not the cause.Feel your emotions, talk about them or journal, making a decision to balance out the negative with what is going well and the feelings that arise.#fridaymindsetchallenge This is a public episode. AgilEmpath Season 3-The Resilient Mind; Episode 2- The Importance of Words

“These words contain power and reflect your thought life, influencing the world around you and the circumstances of your life. Your words are therefore very useful, since they provide insight into what is holding you back or propelling you forward.” ~Dr. Caroline LeafQuantum Physics tells us we release energy with words. With negative words. we release negative quantum energy bringing upset to our mental & physical system. This creates a stressful state. Just think how we feel after a heated argument physically and emotionally: worn out! What we say is a reflection of what we are thinking and how we feel, and words have power. I grew up with the phrase, ‘sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.’ Not true according to Quantum Physics.Let’s work on our words!Increase awareness of what you say.Compare your words to your thoughts.Replace negative statements with positive words.#fridaymindsetchallengeAvailable on multiple platforms! AgilEmpath Season 3-The Resilient Mind; Episode 5- DONT WORRY BE HAPPY

Happiness Studies have shown us the key to being internally happy is connection. This is a meaningful life with inner life satisfaction. Have you ever gotten that one thing you dreamed of having, and later felt empty realizing it did not bring you true satisfaction? Positive Psychology has redefined success as preceding happiness, not the vice versa that we thought: success brings happiness. To find true happiness is to find success. How do we find happiness?Connect socially.Watch funny videos.Believe happiness is for you.Choose to be happy now not, ‘I’ll be happy when ___________ happens.”#fridaymindsetchallenge This is a public episode. Mindset: Having Control

In Dr. Leaf’s book: “Think, Learn, Succeed,” 15 mindsets are explained that have been observed in participants to positively change brain chemistry.“You cannot control the events and circumstances of life. You can, however, control your reactions to the events and circumstances of life through the choices you make and the thoughts you think.” ~Dr. Caroline LeafAs human beings we are made of a spirit, soul, & body. Thoughts create our mood which influences how we feel physically. There is no separating feeling sad with having an upset stomach. If we are unclear where somatic problems are originating from, consider our psychology & spiritual state.Superposition is the ability to focus on incoming information, think about the thoughts, analyze them choosing what stays and what goes. We do not have to accept thoughts and make them part of our thinking. Sometimes we have memories pop up due to a smell, or something someone said. We have the ability at that moment to recreate the memory balancing it with a positive that also occurred during the past. Truth of the matter, we have the ability to control our mind and this rewires the brain.Begin controlling those thoughts, sorting them, and choosing what stays and what goes:Do not allow thoughts to wander, instead capture them.Analyze the thought.Re-conceptualize thoughts & memories, by deciding what thought you would rather have. Add that thought to the mind’s vocabulary.#fridaymindsetchallenge This is a public episode. AgilEmpath Season 1 Soft Skills for Leaders; Episode 12- Leadership Skills Pt. 6 Collaborative Leadership

Leadership is becoming more about collaborative agile efforts where executives, managers & staff share information with equal responsibility for the whole. The traditional top-down models where a small group of executives control the flow of information is seen as a dinosaur by millennials. What is emerging is a team that seeks diversity of opinions to build strategies and solve problems. This empowers employees fostering increased engagement with ownership of their work. Employee happiness can only increase with collaborative leadership, where inclusion & belonging are values being lived out from the top down, thus eliminating the culture of top down management. Innovation & creativity flourishes in human beings with positive interactions. To flourish means to live within an optimal range of human functioning, one that connotes goodness, generativity, growth, and resilience. The organic way to foster human functioning in this optimal range is collaborative leadership! This is a public episode. We are talking about strategy for effective change management on a global scale! It begins with communication. From Abraham Lincoln, to Martin Luther King, and Winston Churchill; these leaders were great orators! What does communication entail? F. Schulz von Thun identified a Four Sides Model of communication (1981):* Fact: What I inform about * Self-revealing: What I reveal about myself * Relationship: How my message resonates with you fostering connection on an emotional level* Appeal: What I want to inspire you to do This is a public episode. “Situation Awareness (SA) is the perception of environmental elements and events with respect to time or space, the comprehension of their meaning, and the projection of their future status.” This is our picture mentally of what is going on around us. AgilEmpath Episode 7- Leadership Skills Pt 1-Self Awareness

Leadership strengths are qualities that help leaders to manage and motivate their team. This includes what motivates us and our decision making. One of the top skills to develop as a leader is how aware we are of ourselves, according to multiple sources including the Harvard Business Review. Effective teams are made up of people who both understand and complement each other. Self-awareness seems to have become the latest management buzzword — and for good reason. Research suggests that when we see ourselves clearly, we are more confident and more creative. We make sounder decisions, build stronger relationships, and communicate more effectively. We’re less likely to lie, cheat, and steal. We are better workers who get more promotions. And we’re more-effective leaders with more-satisfied employees and more-profitable companies. AgilEmpath Episode 4 - The Block of Jealousy How self-actualization breaks it up!

Humanity is socially distanced due to the COVID19 crisis, and suffering with a pre-existing pandemic of loneliness in our society. Prior to the shut-down of our nations, we were told by experts, ‘loneliness kills.’ We all need support, and this first needs to begin with ourselves. Why is jealousy a concern? When we are jealous of another person, we tell ourselves a story and that can lead us to act in irrational ways. How do these principles apply to teams? It is the leadership’s responsibility to provide a safe work environment. This is fostered when the team observes a calm, confident leader who is not afraid to show vulnerability, and can make timely decisions when necessary. The team will follow the example of the leader, more than we realize. This emphasizes the importance of developing soft skills within our team, as this adds to our emotional intelligence as a whole.
