They express the concern that comparing throughput between teams could lead to manipulation and abuse, just like with velocity and story points. Ryan and Todd suggest that a probabilistic forecast would be a better approach instead of a deterministic forecast. They argue that the community should embrace flow metrics as a better alternative to traditional metrics, like velocity and story points, and avoid the anti-patterns that come with those metrics.
