Thieves Strike Quorn Cemetery, Stealing Memorial Plaques and Leaving Families Devastated
In a heartbreaking incident, thieves have stolen brass plaques from nearly every memorial in the ashes garden at Quorn Cemetery in South Australia, leaving dozens of families devastated. The cemetery, located north of Port Augusta in a small town of about fourteen hundred people, also saw headstones damaged in the break-in discovered last Friday morning. Locals have expressed their disgust and sorrow over the act, with one woman finding the damage while checking on her parents and husbands graves. The Flinders Ranges mayor also shared his shock, stating that it made his blood run cold. Council workers have spent days phoning around eighty affected families to break the bad news. Police are now investigating, and while insurance wont cover replacements, the council plans to help families get new plaques and restore some peace.
