Designing hardware during the parts shortage is really challenging - you need to spec parts but there's now a risk you won't be able to get it.
Historically this maybe meant a delay of a few weeks or at worst, months. Now some parts are delayed 2 years! We're revising some designs we were about to launch with 'flip flop' designs - where we lay out two alternative packages.
We don't know the official name for this technique, we borrowed it from fixies https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flip-flop_hub Let's take a look at how we picked the packages and how we laid out the design to accommodate 'em.
