The night was... humid... The night was...moist.... The night was...sultry.... The night was...mother's day! The perfect opening for a description of our Mother's Day Special featuring the Danny DeVito and Billy Crystal film, Throw Momma From the Train. Here is the description: Larry (Billy Crystal), an author with a cruel ex-wife, Margaret (Kate Mulgrew), teaches a writing workshop where Owen (Danny DeVito), one of his students, is fed up with his domineering mother (Anne Ramsey). When Owen watches a Hitchcock classic that seems to mirror his own life, he decides to put the movie's plot into action and offers to kill Margaret, if Larry promises to murder his mom. Before Larry gets a chance to react to the plan, it seems that Owen has already sealed Margaret's fate. We realize that this was probably mistakenly categorized as a movie for this holiday, but no matter. It's a film that we both enjoyed watching and discussing from a Rothbardian Anarcho-Capitalist perspective. You get some insights into Robert's writing process and some general banter between the two of us. We hope you enjoy and happy mother's day. Word to your mother. Call her, seriously. We hope you enjoyed the discussion, and we may have a surprise bonus for Patreon supporters as a result. As always, like, comment, subscribe (on YouTube!), share, et al. Never miss an episode. Subscribe on Apple Podcasts to get new episodes as they become available. For show notes and more, please visit: www.actualanarchy.com/22 Robert and I analyze popular movies from a Rothbardian/AnarchoCapitalist perspective. We use movies as a starting point for people who may not be familiar with this way of thinking. Discussion of the plot and decisions that characters make in relation to morality and violations of the non-aggression principle are our bread and butter. We also will highlight and discuss any themes or lessons from Austrian Economics that we can glean from the film. The point is to show what anarchy actually is with instances that are presented in film. We publish new episodes on Sunday just in time for your Monday commute; and occasionally will do specials surrounding holidays or events (elections/olympics).
