Ep 351351: How to Eat Smarter and Optimize Your Health with Shawn Stevenson

When I was younger, I made a decision about my diet that forever changed my life: I will value the impact that food has on my body above the taste. At first, nothing changed overnight, but that decision gradually became my guiding principle so much so that I rarely put anything in my body that doesn't add value to my health and energy. When it comes to our health, and building our immunity to avoid viruses, disease, and illness, what we eat is arguably the single most important decision we can make. This year has made it more obvious than ever that the United States is the sickest nation in human history, and many people are being drastically affected by preventable illnesses. However, with all this instability comes an incredible opportunity to change. Researcher and bestselling author, Shawn Stevenson—who joined me on the podcast previously to talk about his book Sleep Smarter—has just released his new book, Eat Smarter: Use the Power of Food to Reboot Your Metabolism, Upgrade Your Brain, and Transform Your Life. Today, Shawn joins me to talk about the astounding problems with our healthcare system, the importance of diet and exercise in illness prevention, and the major cultural changes that need to happen to help us become a healthier society. KEY TAKEAWAYS The major underlying issues affecting the health of so many people right now that aren't being discussed - and what we can do about it. How the COVID-19 pandemic has amplified the effects of years of ignoring chronic illness. How stress and uncertainty make us physically sicker by suppressing immune function. How to improve and optimize your gut bacteria and the other microorganisms that inhabit your body. Ep 350350: The Key to Experiencing Ultimate Freedom

When you hear the word freedom, what do you think about? Today I'm talking about how we can all achieve what I consider to be the ultimate freedom or specifically "inner freedom" – the ability to choose how you experience every aspect of your life in each moment. When we have inner freedom, we are in control of our inner world and our experience of life, no matter what's going on. You have the ability to choose your experience of every aspect of your life, including how you experience other people. If you can attain inner freedom, you win. It doesn't matter what's going on in your life, in your bank account, at work, in the government, or in how other people show up—you're in control. Today, I want to talk about how to achieve such a state of inner freedom, even during the most difficult times. You'll learn why worrying is usually an unnecessary use of our energy, how to transcend inner turmoil, and experience life exactly as you choose. Ep 349349: How We Made a Documentary (Behind the Scenes of The Miracle Morning Movie)

I think you're going to love today's podcast episode! Maybe I'm a little biased, but I really had a blast with this one. :^D It's a "behind the scenes" conversation from last week, between me and The Miracle Morning Movie team – Director (Nick Conedera) and Producer (Theresa Laurico) – on what it took to make this film. How do you make a documentary? How do you take an idea, especially if you don't know what you're doing, and turn it into a full-length feature film for an audience of millions? I've spent the last several years trying to answer these questions as I've worked on the Miracle Morning Movie. Nick and Theresa have provided me with invaluable guidance and support on this journey. They are some of my closest friends, a big part of my life, and advocates of the Miracle Morning mission and movement – and they helped inspire this incredible vision and turn it into a reality. Today, you'll learn the story behind the Miracle Morning Movie, how we built a powerful network of people all over the world to contribute to the film, and the many challenges, delays, and complications we all faced along the way. Ep 348348: The Evolution of The Miracle Morning Movement

With the world premiere of The Miracle Morning Movie approaching, I've been reflecting a lot on how TMM Movement has evolved over the past 12 years. What began as my little morning routine that I shared in a book, has since evolved into an international community and a worldwide movement. It's had an astounding impact on millions of people as individuals and collectively, one person and one morning at a time. The Miracle Morning enables each of us to go out into the world as the best version of ourselves. It gives us the power to impact every life we touch and has had an immeasurable ripple effect on the world around us. Today, I'm looking back at how the Miracle Morning has evolved. Whether you've been practicing the Miracle Morning for years or just joined the community recently, I'll be sharing tons of behind-the-scenes stuff you've likely never heard before, exploring what it really means to elevate the consciousness of humanity, and diving deep into just what makes this practice so transformative and powerful. Ep 347347: How to Program Your Brain to Achieve Your Goals with John Assaraf

This is truly one of my favorite interviews I've ever done. I've been a fan of John Assaraf for over a decade. Like millions of people did, I discovered him through his appearance in the 500-million+ copy selling documentary, The Secret. John is also a NY Times bestselling author and the founder of NeuroGym, where he helps equip people with the tools to repattern, rescript, and reshape their subconscious patterns. Today, John joins the podcast to talk about the neuroscience beneath goal achievement, how thoughts lead to behavior that generates results, and the "innercises" you can start doing now to figure out how to start forging a path forward, eliminate obstacles, and create a clear path to your goals. Ep 346346: How to Achieve Your Goals When You're Struggling

We all struggle. It's part of life. Whether our struggle is due to a lack of clarity, a lack of confidence, feeling overwhelmed, stressed, frustrated or something else – struggle is an almost inevitable part of being human. So, how do we proceed to pursue and achieve our goals in the midst of the struggle? Whether your struggle is mental, emotional, physical, logistical, financial—or all of the above—you may find yourself asking, "What's the most important thing for me to I do right now? Do I have what it takes? How can I pull this off?" I've been experiencing all of the above as I'm working to launch The Miracle Morning Movie world premiere on 12/12/2020. When I sat down to record this podcast, I was feeling overwhelmed and frustrated, and this episode was born from my own attempt to transcend the struggles that I'm facing right now. Today, I want to help you understand what you're struggling with, find clarity, and take on the challenges you need to face in order to succeed and achieve your goals. Most of us have important goals that we'd like to achieve. However, it can be challenging to keep our process for setting and achieving goals focused, strategic, and disciplined — especially when we feel overwhelmed. To help us get back on track, I've turned to my good friend, Geoff Woods, who is arguably one of the most qualified experts I've ever encountered when it comes to maintaining an effective process for setting and achieving goals. Geoff is the Vice President of The ONE Thing, host of The ONE Thing podcast, and he's on a mission to help people better use their time for achieving extraordinary results. Today, Geoff joins the podcast to talk about the big mistakes people make when setting goals, how to apply proven principles to your goal setting, and how to shift your mindset to solve problems and grow as a human being, partner, and leader. Ep 344344: How to Access Your Intuition for Guidance with Julie Reisler

What exactly is intuition? How can we know the difference between the self-limiting voice in our head and our highest truth? Is there a source of infinite wisdom that is available to us at all times, and if so, how do we access it consistently? To help me answer these questions, I've reached out to Julie Reisler. Julie is one of the most intuitive people I know. She is an intuition coach, multiple time TEDx speaker, author of Get a PhD in You, and host of the You-est You podcast. Her powerful, life changing process has helped countless individuals transform their lives for the better and access their truest selves. Today, Julie returns to the podcast to help define what exactly intuition is, how to listen for it, and how to cultivate an intuition practice of your own. Ep 343343: The Feel Good Effect with Robyn Conley Downs

Between our ongoing commitments to work, family, and our seemingly never-ending list of obligations, it isn't always easy to take care of ourselves. Especially since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, many of us have felt at times like life is spiraling out of control. Thus, we could each benefit from a gentle reminder that we are all human and there are things we can do, each day, to regain control of our lives. Today, that reminder comes from Robyn Conley Downs. Robyn has been named one of "the most influential women in wellness" and is the author of The Feel Good Effect. After her daughter was born, and she struggled to keep up with the insane pace of a 60-hour-a-week job and a full-time doctoral program immediately, she developed the mindset and strategies to help herself get out of that place and focus on what really matters. For this episode, Robyn joins the podcast to talk about the importance of mindset and mindfulness, and breaks down her four-step process to transform your mindset and create healthy, lasting habits to help you bring the Feel Good Effect into your own life. Ep 342342: How to LOVE Your Life – Exactly As It Is

A few weeks ago, I recorded an episode of the podcast called "Freedom From Your Emotional Pain." You can find it at HalElrod.com/338 if you haven't listened to it yet. Within that episode, I shared the following quote: "Consider that every painful emotion you have ever experienced has been self-created by resisting your reality. It's never the thing we think we're upset about that's actually upsetting us. It is our resistance. When you accept reality exactly as it is, you are at peace." This turned out to be one of the most shared episodes of the podcast I've had in a long time, and in addition to some very positive feedback, I also heard from a few people who were in pain and very upset about that quote. They understandably interpreted it as me meaning that our pain is our fault, when my meaning is really intended to identify and overcome the root cause of the pain itself. Today, in order to help clarify and expand on this message, I'm reading you a chapter from one of my all-time favorite books: Loving What Is by Byron Katie and sharing my interpretation of her message, and how I've personally implemented it into my life. In my opinion, Byron Katie understands better than just about anyone how to greet emotional pain with acceptance and love, and find peace within it. Ep 341341: The ONE Decision That Makes All Others For You

What if you could make one decision, and that decision would automate nearly every decision you'll ever make again? Today we're going to talk about exactly that. Many years ago, I unconsciously made a decision. I established a set of core values and guiding principles, and in doing so, it became the ultimate decision-making engine that predetermined every other decision for myself. It enabled me to know who I would be and how I would respond to any challenge or opportunity. In today's episode, I'm giving you a simple process that will make your life easier, improve your self-discipline, and essentially make most of your future decisions for you. You'll learn how to access a new level of effectiveness when you consciously articulate, clarify, and translate your core values and guiding principles into writing, and discover how to use them to lower your stress and increase your ability to act quickly, decisively, and effectively. Julianna Raye is a master of mindfulness, which is why I asked her to join me for today's podcast. In addition to her more than 12,000 hours of personal practice, I've witnessed her lead thousands of members of our community through guided meditation, and her techniques have transformed my personal meditation practice. Ep 339339: It's Time to Make Your Dreams a Reality with Giovanni Marsico

Do you dream of a bigger and better future? Have you ever been told to 'get your head out of the clouds' and 'be more realistic'? Well, you're not crazy, and you're not alone. Every product, innovation social movement and major change in the world started off as one person's dream – and they were called 'crazy' until they made their dream come true… and then they were called a 'genius.' The other day I was watching the brand new documentary, Dreamer created by Giovanni Marsico (which you can watch for free at DreamerDocumentary.com), and I absolutely loved it! It was filled with incredible stories of individuals who ignored those who told them to be more realistic, and instead turned their unrealistic dreams into their reality. I enjoyed the film so much that I immediately reached out to Giovanni and asked him to be on the podcast to share what he's learned from spending time with some of the world's most prolific Dreamers. He explores the patterns that he sees in people who have had the power to pursue their vision even when up against crazy resistance, friction, and people telling them it'll never work out. Today, Giovanni joins the podcast to share the story behind Dreamer, why there's a real-life superhero hiding inside of all of us, and his strategies for cultivating meaningful relationships with incredible people who have already achieved what you want to. Ep 338338: Freedom From Your Emotional Pain

The other day, I posted the following quote on social media: "Consider that every painful emotion you have ever experienced has been self-created by resisting your reality. It's never the thing we think we're upset about that's actually upsetting us. It is our resistance. When you accept reality exactly as it is, you are at peace." To this, I added, "When you accept reality exactly as it is, there is no pain, only peace. Instead of resisting reality, accept it unconditionally, giving yourself the gift of inner peace, and from that place of unconditional peace, you can choose to experience any reality that you want." Several members of the Miracle Morning Community responded. They wanted to talk about the trauma, sadness, and pain they've felt in their own life caused by losing others and enduring difficult circumstances. On today's podcast, I want to address this. I want to teach you how to free yourself from emotional pain. I want to help you find the power and purpose in emotional pain and discover how to access the emotional freedom that is available to all of us, right now. Ep 337337: How Gratitude Changes Everything with Chip Franks

We're living not just in a global pandemic, but a global mental health crisis. More people are struggling mentally and emotionally than possibly ever before. In fact, nearly half of Americans report the coronavirus crisis is harming their mental health, according to a Kaiser Family Foundation poll. However, what can give you the power to manage your mental and emotional state, in times like these, is a strong sense of control of your inner world. Today, we talk about how GRATITUDE can be the key that unlocks the door to your inner freedom. There are few people I know who excel when it comes to their mental and emotional well-being, like Chip Franks. Chip is a master of choosing the emotion that best serves him in any given circumstance, no matter how difficult or challenging it may be. You're going to hear Chip talk about dropping his mom off at hospice last week, and how he's able to remain grateful and joyful, even in the midst of losing his dear mother. Today, Chip joins the podcast for the sixth time (not including the times he's served as a guest host) to share insights on the power of gratitude, about the joy he feels even as he navigates the inevitable, and how we can bring those feelings into every challenge we face - and every area of our lives. Ep 336336: How to Be Peaceful & Proactive When Life is Difficult

For today's podcast episode, I want to explore what enables certain people to move through life's challenges so much more easily and effectively than others, and give you three (3) steps to develop your ability to do the same. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, the primary focus of what I've been talking with you about is the one thing that you have control over: your inner world (your thinking, your emotional well-being, and ultimately your internal quality of life). I know that for many of us, it may feel like that's easier said than done, and it can feel like the pain, frustration, fear, suffering, and sadness in the world controls us. However, today I want to show you that you absolutely have the ability to control your thinking and to intentionally create an emotional state that serves your highest good and enables you to be proactive – no matter what's going on in the world, in your life, or with your family. We'll also explore the following three (3) key steps that can help you maintain a peaceful, proactive mindset that will help you feel good, happy, energized, and optimistic, even in the midst of pain and loss. Ep 335335: The Miracle Morning "Monthly Mission" 30-Day Challenge

Is there an area of your life that you would like to change or improve in the next 30 days? Today's podcast episode will help you do exactly that. For each of the past few months, I've been hosting a Miracle Morning "Monthly Mission" (30-day Challenge) in The Miracle Morning Community Facebook group, and I wanted to invite you to participate for the month of August. The purpose of this challenge is to choose ONE area of your life that you feel needs the most attention/improvement right now and then focus your Miracle Morning S.A.V.E.R.S. primarily on improving in that one area. In today's episode, I break down exactly how to do this, caution you to the three primary reasons that so many people fail to complete the challenges they set for themselves, and tell you how you can succeed and gain support from your fellow members of The Miracle Morning Community. Ep 334334: The Path of Unconditional Happiness

Do you ever have that experience where you're reading a book and find yourself nodding your head and thinking, "Yes!" because you agree and resonate so deeply with what the author is saying? That happened with me over and over again when I read The Untethered Soul and its follow up, The Surrender Experiment, by Michael Singer. They quickly became two of my favorite books of all time, and there are millions of people who would say the same things about his work. Today, I'm going to read one of my favorite chapters from The Untethered Soul to you: "The Path of Unconditional Happiness." This chapter reaffirms a fundamental philosophy that has been one of the most important I've ever discovered, what Michael Singer calls "the highest spiritual path." It is that life is meant to be enjoyed, that suffering is optional, and how we always have a choice to be happy, regardless of our circumstances, which begins the moment we make our "vow of unconditional happiness." I invite you to keep an open mind, think about the emotions that cause you pain as well as those that best serve you, and think about how you can apply Michael Singer's wisdom to your life so that you can truly enjoy every moment and be the happiest you've ever been. Ep 333333: My Hour-by-Hour Miracle Morning & Daily Schedule

Each week, I receive hundreds of emails from members of our community, asking me all types of questions - some of which are pretty unexpected, but I'll leave those for another episode. :^) One of the most popular types of questions that I get revolves around how I schedule my day, and structure my Miracle Morning. Today, I want to take some time to really answer this question. Right now, my SAVERS take about 90 minutes – 30 minutes for myself, 30 minutes for my family, and 30 minutes for my mission/ business. This may sound like a lot, but it's completely doable with the structure. If you're wondering how I plan my day, how I'm currently practicing my SAVERS, what I eat, and how I use my time in service of my family and my mission, this episode breaks down each step along the way. Ep 332332: How to Access the Power of Presence with Hal Elrod

As human beings, we're prone to living in the past or anticipating the future, but rarely are we present to the only thing that's real… NOW. Life is always happening right now, and yet most of us spend our entire lives in our heads, thinking about the past or future, which is causing us to miss out on the essence of life. When we're fully present, we're calm, we transcend stress and worry, and we're able to experience life as it is meant to be lived. I first began learning about this in my early twenties, when I first read The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, and I've been striving and struggling to implement it in my life ever since. In today's podcast, I want to talk about the power of this practice, how to share it with your family, and how to get started if you've never meditated before or have struggled with meditation in the past. Ep 331331: How to Make the Next 6 Months Your Best 6 Months

How has the first half of 2020 been for you so far? I know, I know – that's a loaded question. When you and I were planning our goals for the year, I don't think either of us considered that a global pandemic and the accompanying quarantine would show up. Personally, back in February, I was in the middle of planning a nationwide theater release for The Miracle Morning movie, and then the Coronavirus struck, and our entire plan had to be thrown out. Well, even if the first six months haven't been what you'd planned on or expected, and you're not to blame for the adverse circumstances in the world, now is the time for us to regroup so that we can make the second half of 2020 better than the first. Today, I want to share three simple steps to help you focus on what you can do to make meaningful progress during the second half of this year. I want you to have the most successful, enjoyable, and fulfilling six months you've ever had. Ep 330330: Your Mind's Ability to Heal Your Body with Dr. Bernie Siegel

When I was diagnosed with cancer in 2016, my prognosis was extremely grim. I was given a 10 to 30% chance of surviving, which you could also say is a 70 to 90% chance of dying. Thankfully, soon after I was diagnosed, I read Dr. Bernie Siegel's book, Love, Medicine & Miracles, and I began affirming that there was a 100% chance that I would be in the 10 to 30% that survived. Bernie is an expert in mind-body connection. He's been sharing for decades the mind's ability to heal the body and our ability to heal ourselves, and what was once seen as kind of woo-woo is now more backed by science than ever before. In today's conversation, Bernie shares deep wisdom about the problems with our perceptions around health and wellness, the power we all have to heal ourselves and change our lives, and the unique healing power of love. Happy Father's Day to all of my fellow fathers and your families! Today's podcast is for you. Many of us dads tell ourselves that "family is our #1 priority" and yet, our schedules often tell a different story. Work and business take precedence over quality time with our families, time and time again, and this trade off can hurt our most important relationships and the impact we make for our children. If you're a parent or a parent-to-be, I'd encourage you NOT to skip this one. We dig deep into what it means to be a better husband and father, how you can upgrade your Miracle Morning, and what an unconditional commitment to your spouse and family really look like - to name just a few of the many topics we covered on this special episode. During today's conversation, here's what you'll learn: The difference between being vs. doing - and how to start being selfless in how you engage with your partner and children. How my Miracle Morning has evolved to make me a better parent and partner. Ways to praise your spouse and children so that they feel loved by you. How to reframe Father's Day to focus on the gifts you can give back to your family. And much more to help you become a better husband and father! Ep 328328: The Realities of Racism and Elevating Consciousness with Preston Smiles

How do you feel about the current state of our world? Personally, I've got mixed feelings. On one hand, this is a crazy time in human history. People are dying, millions are unemployed, and many of our freedoms are being threatened or altogether taken away. All of this saddens me. However, on the other hand, people from all walks of life are uniting and working together to incite change. Protests are happening around the world, corrupt police officers are being held accountable, and people are courageously speaking up against injustice. All of this gives me hope. The cause that has been at the forefront of my mind is racial equality. This is a topic that is new to me, so I'm listening and learning as much as I can. I've realized that racism is more than just words, beliefs and actions. It includes all the barriers that prevent people from enjoying dignity and equality because of their race. Joining me today, to talk about this and much more, is my good friend Preston Smiles. Preston is the author of Love Louder, and he is a wise, courageous leader who has been unafraid to stand up for what he believes in. He has a uniquely modern, love-based approach to living, and today you'll gain his insights on everything from the "four levels of consciousness" to Preston's experiences as a black person in America, and ultimately how we can all elevate our consciousness to be better and live well as we do difficult, necessary work within ourselves, our families, and our communities. Every time I talk with Preston, I walk away feeling inspired, empowered, and equipped to be a better version of myself, and I believe that you will as well. Ep 327327: Why Your Personality Isn't Permanent with Dr. Benjamin Hardy

Have you ever taken a personality assessment? You know, the Myers-Briggs, DISC, or Enneagram tests that are supposed to tell us about who we are and fit us neatly into a predetermined category? Well, today's guest, Dr. Benjamin Hardy, has a very different take on personality testing. In his new book, Personality Isn't Permanent, he explores why these tests go against science and psychology, shape your identity in dangerous ways, and prevent us from living up to our true potential. Today, Dr. Hardy joins the podcast to talk about the danger of accepting labels from others, why it's time to do away with outdated personality tests, and how to stop living in the past and set a foundation for a hopeful future. Ep 326326: Saving Humanity and the Planet with Dr. Zach Bush

If we lose our planet, we don't survive. As a species, we are in the midst of a major extinction event, and our systems of food, housing, and medicine have decimated our earth, its natural resources, and its biodiversity. In fact, in the worst-case scenario, we could see the end of humanity within just 70-120 years. However, all is not lost. Dr. Zach Bush's day job is as an MD who specializes in internal medicine, endocrinology, and hospice care. However, he's also an internationally recognized educator and thought leader on the importance of microbiomes when it comes to health, disease, and nutrition. He's doing extraordinary work to save our planet, and he believes that we still have an opportunity to reverse the damage done and create the most verdant, biodiverse planet to have ever existed. Today, Zach joins the podcast for a deep dive into how we can cultivate extraordinary relationships with ourselves, each other, and the Earth. Ep 325325: How to Develop a 5-minute Spiritual Practice with Jenai Lane

As we see with so many millionaires, celebrities, and other highly successful individuals - achieving the success we think we want doesn't always provide us with the deep fulfillment that we truly desire. So, how do we combine outer success with inner fulfillment? Today, you'll meet one of my coaches, Jenai Lane, who has helped me do exactly that. She provides people all over the world with tools to awaken their greatest visions, experience fulfillment, and discover their true selves. Jenai is an award-winning entrepreneur, creator of the Spirit Coach Method, and author of Spirit Led Instead: The Little Tool Book of Limitless Transformation. Through her work, she explores how you can move from being led by your head to being led by your spirit, higher consciousness, infinite wisdom, source energy, God, or whatever you call the highest power in the universe. Ep 324324: How to Create Your Own Reality

How would you describe your current reality? Are you primarily experiencing states of love, joy, bliss, and enthusiasm? Or do you find yourself enduring feelings of stress, anxiety, fear, and general negativity – more often than you'd like? If you're feeling the latter more than the former, there is no better time than now to remember that your reality is determined by what you focus on—habitually and over an extended period of time—and you have the power within you to create a reality that both feels great and enables you to transform any area of your life. If you're feeling anything less than optimum, right now, I want to extend a challenge to you. In today's episode, I talk about how I've transformed my Scribing practice to gain more clarity, solve my problems, and ultimately create the reality I want to live in – and how you can do the same. Ep 323323: How to Take Action When You Don't Feel Like It

No matter who you are, what you do, or what your goals are, there are probably things in your life that you would benefit from doing that you'd prefer not to do. Today, I really didn't want to go for a run – nor record this podcast – and yet I did both. So, how can you get yourself to do the things you need to do, even when you don't have the drive, motivation, or energy to do them? When you lose your motivation, you need to get tactical. It's time to implement concrete strategies to reframe the situation and recapture your momentum. Inspired by my experience this morning, I've decided to use today's episode to explore this further and help answer the crucial question: how do you get yourself to take action and do the things you know you need to do, even when you don't feel like doing them? KEY TAKEAWAYS How objects, challenges, setbacks, defeats, and failures squash the goal achieving mindset - and what to do when the infatuation period wears off after you've adopted a new habit. What my Cutco sales manager said to me when I told him I wasn't feeling motivated - and how this reality check empowered me to take responsibility for my feelings. How to reframe taking action and doing the things you don't want to do in your daily practice. Why making change is more like turning up a thermostat than flipping a switch - and how to condition your mindset over an extended period of time. What if making a significant improvement in the MOST important area of your life is not only possible, but you can complete it in the next few weeks? In today's podcast, you'll find out how you can improve the most important area of your life. Last week, I invited you and our fellow Miracle Morning Community members to join the "Mission for May" (30-Day Challenge) by choosing the ONE area of your life that you'd most like to improve, and then focus on improving every day, for the next 30 days, by concentrating your Miracle Morning S.A.V.E.R.S. on that one area. Over 1,200 members of our community said "YES!" and are currently participating in the "Mission for May" Challenge, here in the Facebook group. Just because we're a week into May doesn't mean it's too late! Ep 321321: Living Life in Awe with John O'Leary [BONUS]

When my friend John O'Leary was nine years old, a horrific accident left him with burns on 100% of his body, and a slim chance of survival. He defied the odds to make a remarkable recovery and has spent his life since on a mission to share the lessons he learned about overcoming adversity. John and I met years ago when we spoke on the same stage, and I can attest that he is one of the most authentic and inspirational communicators that I know. In fact, his message has now reached over 1 million people in 14 countries. When I found out John has a new book coming out today, I invited him to be on the show to talk about it. His new book is titled: In Awe: Rediscover Your Childlike Wonder to Unleash Inspiration, Meaning, and Joy, and shows us how to recapture and harness our childlike qualities in order to become more engaged, successful, and fulfilled, as individuals and as leaders. He's also donating 100% of his profits and giving some valuable bonuses for anyone who gets his book this week (details here). Ep 320320: Are You Ready to Double Down On Your Self-Care?

As a society, we don't know what's next, and it's easier than ever to let yourself be ruled by uncertainty. Last week, I talked openly and vulnerably about some of the challenges I've been overcoming and how I leveraged my past to transform my present by getting back to practicing the fundamentals of The Miracle Morning (like I did back in 2008). As a continuation of last week's episode, today I want to share with you a number of actionable insights you can implement immediately to up-level your self-care right now. Today you'll learn not only why all of us often struggle to make time for self-care, but what you can do right now to double down on your self-care practices (without letting them consume your day) and face your biggest challenges in a meaningful, manageable way. Ep 319319: Using Your Past to Transform Your Present

If you're struggling in any area of your life, right now, today's podcast episode can help you. I'm sharing a profound breakthrough with you that I had, recently, and inviting you to apply it to your life - immediately. A week ago, when I was recording this episode, I was struggling. I'm still dealing with the ongoing side effects of chemotherapy, and I'm still trying to work through the resulting anxiety, depression, and cognitive challenges that I've discussed openly with you in previous episodes of this podcast. In the past week, I've made a radical shift that has taken me from feeling depressed, unmotivated, and overwhelmed to feeling genuinely happy, energized, and in control of myself, and my life. In today's podcast, I'm sharing the story and the strategy of how I reached this breakthrough, how to return to the tools you already have inside of you to conquer your greatest challenges, and what you can do right now to work through this incredibly trying time in human history. When faced with challenging times, it's easy to allow our good habits to be broken and for important routines to be disrupted. That is why, as we're all trying to navigate the uncertainty associated with the pandemic that's currently taking place, I've invited Chief Miracle Worker, Chip Franks, back on the podcast. Today, Chip gives you specific modifications you can make to your Miracle Morning practice to best support you in the midst of whatever challenges you are currently facing. Ep 317317: What Should You Focus On Right Now?

What are you choosing to focus on right now? In this unique moment in time, there's more competing for our attention than ever before. It's an unprecedented feeling, and even "How are you doing?" can now feel like a loaded question. It is human nature to allow what's outside of us to dictate and determine our inner state. That is why now, more than ever, we have to be intentional about what we choose to think about, act on, and how we invest our time, energy, and attention. In today's episode, I want to talk about two simple things you can focus on right now: Focus on becoming the "best" you've ever been. Focus on making your relationships the best they have ever been. Now, more than ever, we need to be at our best, for ourselves as well as those we love, and those we lead. Ep 316316: The Power of Authenticity with JB Glossinger

What does it mean to be authentic in all aspects of your life – as an entrepreneur, in the corporate world, with our families, and even with ourselves? And how can we use authenticity to make a positive impact in the world? To help me answer this on today's podcast episode, I'm thrilled to be speaking with JB Glossinger, known by millions as the "Morning Coach." JB holds a Ph.D in metaphysics, an MBA in business, and he's impacted millions of people around the world as a motivational speaker, coach, leader of masterminds, and best known as host of the Morning Coach podcast—which has surpassed 40 million downloads I discovered JB's work back in 2008, as I was conceptualizing the Miracle Morning, but this has been our first opportunity to connect and have a real conversation about being vulnerable, building businesses, and offering real value in people's lives. Ep 315315: The Uncommon Conversations We Need to be Having

Most of us are faced with concerns that we weren't thinking about two weeks ago, experiencing major shifts in our lifestyles and our businesses, and facing new challenges as parents, entrepreneurs, and leaders. On today's podcast, Jon Berghoff joins me to discuss the conversations we should be having to find meaning and purpose, how to stop being paralyzed by uncertainty and accelerate your own learning, and how to step up as a leader and model great behavior for others - no matter what you do. Jon is the founder of Xchange – a method that you can use to solve whatever challenges you're currently facing. Over the past few weeks, he has been working on the front lines – not of medicine, but of group communication and collaboration – to help people make sense of their sudden and unexpected challenges, and to come up with solutions. For the first time ever, today's episode of the Achieve Your Goals podcast was recorded with a live audience, so that we could demonstrate for you in real time how to engage in the types of uncommon conversations that will enable you to solve the unexpected challenges you're facing and create new opportunities. Ep 314314: We're All In This Together: An Empowering Perspective on Coronavirus

The coronavirus pandemic sweeping the world is truly unprecedented in our lifetimes. This is a time in our lives when there is a massive need for leadership - not just from our leaders, but from every human being on the planet. As a species, we're going through a lot of firsts right now - new circumstances, new challenges, a lot of fear, and more uncertainty than many of us have ever faced. A lot of you are experiencing illness, stress, fear, anxiety, and financial hardship, and many, especially the elderly, are feeling more isolated and alone than ever before. Last week, we talked about how to accept what you can't control and focus on what you can. Today, we're continuing that conversation and getting more actionable. This isn't about logistics, groceries, or where to find toilet paper. It's about managing your inner world, and finding stronger, more resilient, more conscious versions of ourselves through adversity. To help me through this conversation, I've brought Brotha James back to the podcast. In addition to being an uplifting, conscious musician, he's also a world-class facilitator. He helps unleash collective wisdom and group genius living inside people through intentional questions and meaningful conversations. Today, we're exploring how to reset and redirect your focus thoughts. There's never been a better moment to optimize your mindset, your inner world, your inner freedom, and what you can control, and we've included six questions to help you work through this process as you listen to the podcast. Ep 313313: How to Get Rid of ALL Your Problems

We all have problems, but how our problems affect us can differ greatly from one person to another. While one person might feel overwhelmed or even depressed by the problems we're facing, someone else might actually feel optimistic and motivated, viewing their problems as opportunities for growth. In the last year, I've dealt with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and severe sleep deprivation. And while these "problems" have been the most difficult I've ever dealt with (and am still dealing with), they have become my greatest opportunity for growth. If we can change and reframe our perceptions, we can have a better quality of life. If we realize that the word "problem" is simply a label we've given to situations, and which amplifies our worst feelings - we can use them as a way to better understand ourselves, learn, and, most importantly, work through them. In today's solo episode, I want to show you how to look at "problems" through a new lens, shift your paradigm, and find not just solutions, but inner freedom. Ep 312312: 6 Years of Wisdom In 45 Minutes

Today's Episode: "6 Years of Wisdom In 45 Minutes" is something very different. It's an actual message taken from our Best Year Ever Blueprint (BYEB) Mentors program that we introduced this week. I asked Chip Franks to choose one of his favorite videos from inside the program, and to use the audio for this week's Achieve Your Goals podcast episode, to give you some added value this week. This particular BYEB Mentors session that he chose features me, and my two dear friends, Jon Vroman and Jon Berghoff, sharing our most valuable lessons learned during the past 6 years of hosting the Best Year Ever Blueprint. And while I've been pretty open about my struggles this past year, I'd say this is the most vulnerable I've ever been. This session takes you really deep into my lowest point, the reasons why, and more importantly - what you can do now if you're struggling, too. We also give you universally applicable self-awareness activities that you can immediately implement to improve any area of your life. This is some extremely valuable knowledge—but something that we all know is that knowledge isn't power, it's only potential power. So how do we put this into practice? To help you put this into practice, we've put together some journaling (aka "Scribing") questions in the BYEB Mentors program for this particular session and copied them in the show notes and we suggest you put them into practice. Ep 310310: How to Solve the Biggest Problem Facing Humanity Today with Neale Donald Walsch

I'm beyond excited to share this week's podcast with you, as I have literally been waiting for over 20 years to talk with today's guest! In 1999, I read the book Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch for the first time, but it wouldn't be the last. In fact, you'll hear today about how that one book has positively impacted my life more than any other. In Neale's newest book, The Essential Path: Making the Daring Decision to Be Who You Truly Are, he explores how feelings of alienation have created a world in which it's always "us against them" - and why it's time to question our basic assumptions about ourselves and each other, about life and how it works, about God, and what humanity is, in order to transform our world for the better. It is an honor to speak to Neale about the processes and the thinking that have inspired his work, the impact that he's had on the world, and how we can each begin solving the biggest problem currently facing humanity. Ep 309309: Make Your Journaling Cosmic with Yanik Silver

Has Scribing (aka "Journaling") transformed your life as it has mine? Needless to say, Scribing is a key part of the Miracle Morning S.A.V.E.R.S. and an incredible way to achieve breakthrough insights, solidify your commitments, experience more gratitude, and generate clarity and motivation on a daily basis. Yanik Silver is living proof of this. As someone I've admired for over a decade, I couldn't wait to get my hands on his latest creation: The Cosmic Journal, in which he presents a hand-written, self-illustrated space for you to clarify your purpose, determine your destiny, tap into the invisible forces of the universe (stick with me), and galactic instruction manual to help you re-remember your highest self. Yanik is also the CEO of Maverick1000, a network of top entrepreneurs that assembles for breakthrough retreats, opportunities, and experience that to date has raised over $3 million for people in need by working with icons like Sir Richard Branson, Tony Hawk, Sara Blakely, Chris Blackwell, John Paul DeJoria, and Tim Ferriss. Today, Yanik joins the podcast to share the story of the "cosmic alarm clock" moment that set him off on his cosmic journey, the process that led him to write the new book, and the breakthroughs we can achieve when we make journaling part of our daily routine. Ep 308308: The Power of Listening to Conscious Music with Drew Mcmanus

What kinds of music do you prefer to listen to? Do you ever consider how that music – and specifically the lyrics – might be impacting your subconscious mind? Personally, I used to listen to music based purely on the sound (see: hip-hop), and although I sang along (mindlessly), I typically didn't pay much attention to the words I was singing, or the impact they might be having on my subconscious. For example, in high school, I regularly blasted rap music (such as Snoop Doggy Dogg and Dr. Dre) through the speakers of my parents 1979 Toyota family sedan that they let me drive. :^) That was until a few years ago, when I discovered "conscious music." What is conscious music? The word "conscious," according to dictionary.com, means to "be aware of one's own existence, sensations, thoughts, or surroundings." So, conscious music would be that which enlightens one about the world around them. It is music that causes us to be aware of what's going on and causes us to really think deepr about ourselves and our lives. Conscious music is typically music with a positive, purposeful message behind it. Now, I prefer listening to music with positive, purposeful lyrics that inspire me to expand my consciousness, and to feel more love and gratitude in my life – and few artists have inspired those feelings in me like Drew McManus, lead singer of the band Satsang. Satsang's music and Drew's lyrics leaves me feeling like I'm in a meditation session or in the presence of a spiritual guru. Today, Drew joins the podcast to share the story of his journey to conscious music, as well as how he overcame addiction and burnout to create the best art of his life and connect with audiences all over the world. Ep 307307: The Most Important Lessons I Learned from Jim Rohn with Kyle Wilson

Jim Rohn was one of my greatest mentors. He was a master of presenting complex ideas in an extraordinarily simple way, he was funny, and he had an incredible gift as a speaker and presenter. In fact, a single quote of his, "Your level of success will seldom exceed your level of personal development" was what inspired me to create the Miracle Morning. For 18 years, his business partner was Kyle Wilson - the founder of Jim Rohn International and YourSuccess.com. He worked to promote Jim all over the world, built a following of over a million subscribers, published over 100 hours of CDs and DVDs, and then sold everything in 2007 to have more time with his children. Since then, Kyle has become the author of multiple #1 bestsellers and provides coaching and consulting through the Kyle Wilson Inner Circle Mastermind. Today, Kyle joins the podcast to share lessons from his partnership with Jim. You'll learn how Kyle took Jim from being owed almost half a million dollars to doing over 100 speaking engagements a year to audiences of over 25,000. You'll also find out how to rethink sales to empower your clients and customers, and discover why Jim, unlike many masters of sales, rarely got upset about the small stuff - and why you shouldn't either. Ep 306306: An Unconventional Approach to Modern Mindfulness with Cory Allen

Making mindfulness part of your daily life, especially when you've never done it before, can be incredibly difficult. In fact, many beginners struggle to stick with it. They get distracted by their thoughts, think that they're not good enough at meditation, and ultimately give up before experiencing the life-enhancing benefits that are available to all of us. Cory Allen understands this well. He's the host of the Astral Hustle podcast and author of Now Is The Way: An Unconventional Approach To Modern Mindfulness. In his book, he explores how to use mindfulness not as a means to chill out for a few minutes in the morning and at night, but a way to rewire and retrain your brain to be conscious and present all day long. Today, Cory joins the podcast to share what he's learned from his countless conversations with leaders at the forefront of mindfulness, neuroscience, and philosophy. You'll discover how his book addresses the complexities of modern society, technology, and the internet, none of which existed 50 years ago when so many classic texts on meditation were written. Ep 305305: Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It with Kamal Ravikant

Few books have made as profound an impact on my life as much as Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It, as that one book quite possibly saved my life (literally). You'll hear why that is today on the podcast, as I had the opportunity to engage in a highly anticipated conversation with the author of one of my all-time favorite books, Kamal Ravikant. Most importantly, you're about to discover why loving yourself – actively and unconditionally – may be one of the most important things you can do, if not the single most important thing. Few understand this as well as Kamal. After his company in Silicon Valley collapsed and the love of his life left him, he fell into a deep depression. With his ego destroyed and his heart broken, he made a vow to love himself, then set out to do it - and this work changed his life. He shared his journey in a short self-published book, Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It. Almost half a million copies later, he joins the podcast to share how to take self-love from an empty-seeming platitude into a meaningful daily practice that has the power to transform your life in ways you may not even be able to imagine, as it has transformed mine. Ep 304304: You. Are. Perfect (How to Experience the Perfection in Yourself and Life)

On last week's podcast, I shared "Why 2019 Was the Worst Year of My Life" (as in by far the most difficult). Being that open and vulnerable was challenging, but your feedback, love, and encouragement was incredible. It's clear that a lot of us had hard years – and like me, you're committing to making 2020 your best year ever. For me, this includes seeing and experiencing the perfection of our lives, and the true joy that comes along with seeing the perfection in yourself. This doesn't mean that you're without flaws, never do anything wrong, or that you're infallible. It means that you see the messiness of life not as a cause for concern or pain, but as something you embrace to learn, grow, and expand your vision of perfection. It's similar to how you might see and love a child – perfectly imperfect as they are constantly learning and evolving. After all, we're really just children who have gotten older, and still have a lot to learn. :^) On today's episode, you'll learn how to work on experiencing your perfection daily, consciously, and deliberately. You'll discover how to stop saying "I'm not enough," stop beating yourself up, and live a life of joy, self-love, and freedom. Ep 303303: Why 2019 Was My Worst Year (And 3 Steps to Make 2020 Your Best Year)

Today's episode was tough to record, as it's the most vulnerable I've ever been on the podcast. You'll hear me reveal why 2019 was the most difficult year of my life—by far. I spent most of the year suffering from debilitating anxiety, overwhelming depression, and driven by FEAR. For months, I suffered in silence, wondering what in the hell was wrong with me. I was afraid of being judged, of letting my friends and business partners down, and of never getting my sense of optimism back. Finally, I had to be willing to be vulnerable, to ask for help, and to make major changes in my life to ensure that my choices are guided by my highest values, in 2020 and beyond Get The Full Show Notes To get full access to today's show notes, including audio, transcript, and links to all the resources mentioned, visit HalElrod.com/303 Subscribe, Rate & Review I would love if you could subscribe to the podcast and leave an honest rating & review. Ep 302302: How to Achieve Your Family Goals in 2020

Whether you are an entrepreneur, parent, and/or a provider, it's easy to forget that at the end of your life, your loved ones won't remember the paychecks you took home, the mortgage payments you made, or even what you achieved in your career. What they will remember is the time you spent with them, who it helped them become, and how you contributed to their emotional well-being and quality of life. I learned this the hard way. When I was diagnosed with cancer several years ago, I said that my family was my number one priority, but my schedule didn't tell the same story. I was a workaholic, but I was in denial. Thankfully, around that same time, one of my best friends, Jon Vroman, started Front Row Dads - a community for family men with businesses, not businessmen with families. Jon chose to step up and align his work with making his family this top priority, and his work has been hugely transformative for me and hundreds of others over the years. Today's episode of the podcast, Jon interviews me about the radical changes I'm making in my life to ensure that my family remains my true #1 priority in 2020, which hopefully will give you the courage, permission and strategies to really put your family first—and achieve all of your family-related goals—in 2020.
