With the United States Presidential proclamation about introducing a fee of $100k per H1B visa holder in mid-September 2025, a possible fully loaded cost of a senior software engineer or principal engineer exceeds $300k.
The most likely repercussion of this will be that the US corporations that are impacted will hire locally in India and enhance their GCC scope and depth. This will potentially reverse brain drain for India and bring in a new lever to manage immigration challenges and uncertainties. This could actually turn out to be a massive positive factor for India.
