Which do you think matters most? Ability or availability?
To the world, ability matters most. But to a holy, sovereign God, it's availability that truly matters.
There is a significant biblical example of this truth, found in the story of Samuel. As a young child, Samuel heard a voice repeatedly calling out to him. He asked Eli, his mentor, for guidance. Eli finally encouraged Samuel to open his heart and become available to God no matter the personal cost (1 Samuel 3:4).
God then uses Samuel as Israel's greatest judge.
We should all be like Samuel. It doesn't matter how gifted we may or may not be. Our call is simply to say to God, "I'm available." God can use anyone for his glory.
God is not looking for ability, but for availability.
Are you available to him today?
