"Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger" (Ephesians 4:26).

While we usually hear this biblical truth when it's spoken to married couples, it's a universal truth for all relationships in all life situations.

If you let anger - for whatever reason - sit and stew in your soul, it will lead to bitterness that corrodes your heart and others around you like nothing else. "See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no "root of bitterness" springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled" (Hebrews 12:15).

It's a way to keep relational wreckage at a minimum.

And yes, it's an especially good tip for healthy marriages. When you have a tiff with your beloved, deescalate the tension. Lower the temperature. Say, "I'm sorry." Seek forgiveness.

And make a rule you'll have everything resolved before you go to bed.

So that you can have a great night's sleep and face tomorrow's issues with a rested body, soul, and spirit.
