On 4th May 1991, Nicholas Huang's parents returned home to their flat to find their 3-year-old son and 36-year-old Filipino domestic worker, Delia Maga, murdered. Nicholas had been drowned, and Delia, strangled by an elastic cord. The main culprit - Flor Contemplacion, a friend of the worker who allegedly killed them both in a fit of rage.
This was a case that escalated. There were allegations that the boy's father had killed Delia, that Flor was a scapegoat that had been beaten into confessing - these were dismissed by the courts. This was a case that drew protests, flag burning, and even a communist terrorist group threatening the officials of both Singapore and the Philippines...
