The Coast Social Network with United Way of Southwest Michigan – Tuesday, August 2, 2022

United Way utilizes drive-through backpack distribution for this year’s Cass County School Supply Spectacular! Pre-registration is required to get kids school-ready with full backpacks—and, for a lucky few, a “golden ticket”. United Way of Southwest Michigan is proud to partner with area businesses and organizations to present School Supply Spectacular in Cass County in August. This annual event provides free backpacks with grade-appropriate school supplies to Cass County students in pre-kindergarten to 12th grade. This event is for students residing in or attending schools in Cass County only. This event is intended to serve those families in Cass County who are experiencing financial hardship and are not able to afford school supplies and backpacks for their children. Pre-registration is required and you may only arrive during your assigned time slot. The online registration form will ask for grade level and school, among other info. Registrants will select a day, time, and location to pick up their backpacks. Registrants will then receive a confirmation email and ticket that includes name and grade, as well as their assigned time slot and location. (Families must arrive only during their assigned time slot at the pick-up location they selected during registration.) Children must be present in order to receive a backpack and must be accompanied by an adult. Registrants will present their tickets for admittance and to receive their backpacks. REGISTER AT UWSM.ORG/SSS After receiving their backpacks, kids will look in them to see if there is a golden ticket inside. A few of the backpacks will contain a golden ticket, and the lucky children who get one will receive a package of after-school snacks and other items.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Meet China! – Furry Friends Friday

Furry Friends Friday is brought to you by The Mason Jar Cafe! In the Heart of the Benton Harbor Arts District. Local, Organic, Farm Fresh! Meet China! China is a five month old female kitten. She has a beautiful black coat with a touch of white on her chest and huge golden eyes. China loves canned food and is very conversational at meal time. She has a loud purr, likes the company of other cats, and is cautious with dogs but would adjust to a special friend. China came to us with a very large hernia, which has healed nicely. She is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. Please contact Animal Aid of SW Michigan at 269-934-7729 or [email protected] to learn more about our lovely young China.  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
