That is why The CORE’s Q&A Sunday started. In place of a regular message, we will take time to anonymously ask questions and find the passages with Jesus’ answers. It is a struggle to find joy when you look at this cursed world— hurricanes, floods, inflation, and wars fill our headlines. But the “great joy” of the angel’s message applies even to today. The Lord Jesus has come to us and still rules over this cursed Earth. He blesses us despite the thorns of this life and daily proves the wonders of his love with his forgiveness and grace.

In light of all of the opposition, all of our doubts, and all of our internal ugliness, how will we move forward with joy? Jude, the half-brother of Jesus, longed to celebrate God’s salvation with his fellow brothers and sisters in the faith. “But I had to write” and tell you to fight! Jude begins. His change-of-course is a blunt reminder that we live in a mixed up world that requires vigilance, courage, and caution. We might wish we could simply share the good news of God’s love week after week, but the real world requires more. “I had to” write so that the Church is ready to fight.
