Show Notes

Former NRL star and Wallaby Wendell Sailor has had assault charges dismissed on mental health grounds at Sydney's Downing Centre Local Court. The 51-year-old pleaded guilty to three charges, including resisting arrest in Wollongong and hindering police at a Sydney bar, but Magistrate Jennifer Atkinson dismissed all charges under Section 14 of the Mental Health Act. A doctor's report revealed Sailor was using alcohol to cope with his mother's death and the breakdown of his nearly 30-year marriage, with the court finding his alcohol-related incidents were linked to mental health struggles.
