Six men from Honduras and Ecuador have been charged with importing one tonne of cocaine into Australia aboard the MV Raider. French authorities previously intercepted the vessel in international waters off French Polynesia, discovering and disposing of five tonnes of cocaine before allowing the ship to continue towards Australia in a 'catch and release' operation. Australian Federal Police, NSW Maritime and Border Force discovered three sophisticated hides in Australian waters suspected of once containing up to six tonnes of cocaine, with authorities investigating links to a larger criminal syndicate involving Australian nationals.
