A Senate report into Australia's childcare sector has identified significant safety failures and major loopholes that give predators access to children. The report makes 23 recommendations including stronger oversight, unannounced inspections, and consideration of a National Early Childhood Commission to address the current patchwork of systems across the country. The Parenthood CEO Georgie Dent emphasises that workforce shortages, inadequate coordination, and low wages for early childhood educators are contributing to the safety and quality issues affecting families who rely on formal childcare.
