Sarah Ferguson has been unanimously stripped of her Freedom of the City of York title, an honour bestowed upon her in 1987. York City Council voted to remove the title due to ongoing reputational damage caused by her association with the Jeffrey Epstein scandal through her former husband, Prince Andrew. Prince Andrew lost the same honour in 2022 after settling with his late accuser, Virginia Giuffre.
