Ruth Higgins has been appointed as Australia's first female solicitor general, making her the country's second-highest ranking law official behind Attorney-General Michelle Rowland. The barrister, best known for representing ASIC against the Star Casino's board of directors, will represent the government in complex court cases including matters before the High Court.
