More than 500 service stations across Australia have empty fuel pumps amid a national fuel crisis triggered by the Iran war. The National Cabinet will convene next Monday to address distribution issues and discuss emergency conservation measures recommended by the International Energy Agency, including work-from-home arrangements, increased public transport use and reduced air travel. The federal government is introducing legislation to double penalties for fuel companies caught price gouging, while One Nation MP Barnaby Joyce advocates for fuel rationing and purchasing Russian oil processed through India.
