Show Notes
The Australian government has announced a temporary halving of fuel excise for three months, saving motorists 26.3 cents per litre at the bowser from Wednesday until June 30. The $2.5 billion measure, approved by National Cabinet, also reduces the heavy vehicle road user charge to zero to prevent freight and food costs from rising further. A four-stage national fuel security plan has been implemented, with the country currently at stage two, which encourages voluntary fuel conservation and government underwriting of fuel imports.
