An arsonist targeted a family home in St Albans in the early hours of the morning, dousing two cars in the driveway with accelerant and causing seven-metre flames that engulfed the house just before 6am. The Nivens family of six escaped the burning home with some members suffering burns to their feet, losing $70,000 worth of belongings. Police believe the attack was random and unprovoked, with detectives searching for the offender responsible.
