Michael Angok, a 30-year-old convicted child rapist serving time at Villawood Detention Centre, escaped from custody at Bankstown Hospital by breaking away from custodial officers whilst in handcuffs after asking to use the bathroom. Police conducted a five-day manhunt before arresting him near Seven Hills train station following a raid on a nearby June Street property where his shoes were discovered. Authorities are investigating whether someone harboured Angok during his time on the run, and he appeared at Blacktown Court without applying for bail.
