At least 25 people have died and dozens were injured in a stampede at the Laferrière Citadel in Haiti, an early 19th century fortress and UNESCO World Heritage Site. The stampede occurred during an annual celebration, with early investigations suggesting severe overcrowding at the entrance was to blame. In Miami, demolition experts successfully imploded the 23-storey Mandarin Oriental Hotel and its six-storey parking garage in under 20 seconds, marking the largest controlled implosion in the city in more than a decade.
