Former Australian soldier Ben Roberts-Smith has been arrested at Sydney Airport and is expected to be charged with five counts of war crimes murder. The Australian Federal Police allege the victims were detained, unarmed and under ADF control when they were killed, either shot by the accused or by subordinate members acting on his orders. The investigation has been ongoing for five years, and each charge carries a potential life imprisonment sentence.
