The Artemis II crew has broken the Apollo 13 record set in 1970, travelling further from Earth than any other humans at 406,733 kilometres during their lunar flyby mission. The astronauts aboard the Orion spacecraft are conducting a six-hour flyby period, photographing the dark side of the moon and making scientific observations without landing. The mission includes emotional moments such as a recorded message from the late astronaut Jim Lovell and the naming of a lunar crater 'Carroll' in memory of mission commander Reid Wiseman's late wife, as the crew tests the spacecraft for a potential moon landing by 2028.
