The Artemis 2 mission crew is returning to Earth following their historic lunar flyby, having travelled further into space than any humans before. During their journey, the astronauts captured extraordinary photographs including Earth setting behind the moon's horizon, a solar eclipse lasting nearly an hour, and images of the moon's south pole. NASA is now preparing for splashdown as the Orion spacecraft makes its way home, with scientists already analysing the scientific value of the images taken during this test flight for the Artemis programme's goal of establishing a permanent lunar base.
