Police discovered that Eric’s wife, Ann, was having an affair with her co-worker, Derril Willard. Derril killed himself after being questioned by police, but before he died he had a confidential conversation with his attorney. In 1992, 19-year-old Mischelle Lawless' bloodied body was found in an abandoned car on a desolate strip of highway in Benton, Missouri. Four months into the investigation, investigators got a break: 17-year-old Joshua Kezer had been held briefly in the county jail on assault charges, where, according to several inmates, he confessed to killing Lawless. Kezer was convicted and sentenced to 60 years in prison. Sheriff Rick Walter re-opened the case in 2005. Judge Richard Callahan agreed to review the case and, citing prosecutorial misconduct and a lack of evidence, declared Josh Kezer an innocent man. The gunmen held them captive overnight, and in the morning strapped dynamite onto their backs. Breea was shoved into a closet, while Michelle was ordered to rob the bank where she worked. An updated report on the murder trial of Frederick Mueller, who was charged with the 2008 murder of his wife, Dr. Leslie Mueller. She was killed while the two were out for a walk near their vacation home in Lake City, Colorado. According to what Frederick Mueller told police, while the Muellers were hiking, Mueller stopped to take a photo of his wife near the edge of a cliff. On May 1, 1999, the adopted son of Paulette and Kelly Welch died at their home in Idaho Falls, ID. Paulette Welch was charged with first-degree murder and took a plea bargain requiring a guilty plea to the lesser charge of injuring a child. Kelly was never charged. This report also includes the cases of Mary Weaver and Denise Rhode, both of whom were charged with causing a child’s death by shaking. In September 2004, Florida Keys residents Carl “Charlie” Brandt and his wife Teri sought refuge from Hurricane Ivan in the Orlando home of Teri’s niece, Michelle Jones. A few days after the Brandts’ arrival, police discovered their bodies. Teri had been stabbed to death; Michelle had been brutally dismembered; and Charlie had hanged himself in the garage. Marti Hill did not show up for work one day in September 2010, and her co-workers grew concerned. Police were summoned after Hill’s boss drove to her home and found her car still in the driveway. She was found by police, at the bottom of the basement steps, barely breathing and covered in blood. On September 4, 2006, Kathy Wangler, wife of anesthesiologist Dr. Mark Wangler, died from carbon monoxide poisoning in their home in Lima, Ohio. Their thirty-year marriage had been falling apart; three years later, in 2009, investigators came to the conclusion that Dr. Wangler had murdered his wife. Kathy’s mother and sisters felt that since Mark was familiar with gasses that he was able to plan and execute the perfect murder. The couple had two children, but their marriage began to fall apart and Nina began an affair with Sean Sturgeon, Hans’ best friend.
