360 Vegas Review: Peppermill Restaurant and Lounge Spring 2015
EThere is a place on the Vegas strip frozen in time, in the all best ways. It successfully captures the essence of cool while bathing you in glorious neon. Wanna know what it was like to hangout with Elvis, Liberace or the Rat Pack in Vegas? Well their spirit has been capture while simultaneously lives and breathes here. All this while offering breakfast 24 hours a day. It's the Peppermill. Not really hungry well that’s not a problem. Just enjoy a quality beverage on a velvet pink couch around one of the multiple indoor firepits. Perhaps some video poker at the bar you wish was in your den is more your speed. Lucky for you these area all options at the Peppermill. Neon blues, pinks, purples amidst lush, albeit fake, greenery. This is what you imagined Vegas would be like. Quality diner food in an epic setting makes this out of the way spot work the effort. You only live once, make sure Peppermill is part of your minds legacy.

360 Vegas Review: Heritage Steak @Mirage Spring 2014
EVegas has evolved many times in its history. Sawdust joints were replaced with luxurious accommodations, the western theme was surpassed by a more worldly version and the 99 cent buffet met its demise with the introduction of fine dining. In fact, it can be said that fine dining was the first non-gaming evolution the city experienced. If history has taught us anything it’s that evolution is good. Everything in Vegas is meant to be an experience. Preferably one you can't get anywhere else. Dining is no different. While some succeed more than others, some change the way you define what that word even means. Heritage steak is the latter. Located next to the atrium in the Mirage, Tom Collicio's Heritage steak is an example unto itself. Food prepared over wood fueled flame is a unique enough concept but like any experience that transcends others, its about more than the meal. Heritage has an environment that is completely open yet feels like you're in a warm mountain cottage with one hell of a wine cellar and phenomenal staff that enjoy taking care of you. In a city that has taken the dining experience to another level, Heritage can be counted as one of the best.
S1 Ep 1360 Vegas Review: Harrah’s Hotel and Casino Fall 2014
When some people think of Vegas, they think of over the top opulence. Elegance unlike you've ever experienced. Fine dining, lavish suites, lush pool areas and larger than life themes are just some of the amazing options you can expect to enjoy during your Vegas vacation. You can expect none of these when you visit Harrah's. That isn't meant to insinuate that Harrah's isn't a nice property because it is. Adequate might be a word that best describes it. It has clean rooms, decent food options, entertaining shows and a pool. The table limits are low, gaming options are many and it has a nice location on the strip. There are far worse places to stay in Vegas. Unless you are looking for lavish amenities, odds are you won't be disappointed. What Harrah's lacks more than anything is an experience. Sure they do make something of an effort to have a Mardi gras theme but there isn't much holding that vibe together. What Harrah's offers is reasonably priced amenities. It’s the kind of place you store your stuff in while doing all the other things you came to Vegas to do.
360 Vegas Review: Andiamo's Steak House @The D Fall 2014
EWhen you think of downtown Vegas, value is the first thing that comes to mind. Even the Golden Nugget's dining options are largely chains. High end in most cases but chains all the same. However as one would expect to find in any major cities downtown area, diamonds are among the rough. Take Andiamo’s at the D. You wouldn't expect anything stellar from the Italian Steakhouse located on the second floor of the property next to all the coin operated vintage slots. Reflection on the experience gives a new appreciation to the words of wisdom your grandparents gave you that newer isn't always better. Please don't misunderstand. Andiamo’s is not old. It exemplifies the word classic. It shows that some people are so far ahead of the curve, it takes a lot of time for everyone to catch up. The food, the staff and the atmosphere make it yet another experience to be had in Las Vegas.
360 Vegas Review: The D Hotel & Casino Fall 2014
EOriginally introduced to the market as the SunDance hotel & casino by Moe Dalitz, the D renovated the properties 2nd incarnation as the Fitzgerald from the bottom of the options barrel into something Fremont St desperately need, a cool option. You can feel the difference the moment you walk in the door. The energy is palpable, young and extremely alluring. When plans were announced and the name unveiled, shows like this venomously hated it. When we were told the name didn't have one meaning but 3; Downtown, its location in Las Vegas, D, the nickname of new owner Derek Stevens as well as for Detroit, his hometown, it didn't help. The name and theme were called everything from unimaginative & dumb to the worst property name in Las Vegas history. We said that. We were so wrong. What Derek Stevens and company did to the Fitzgerald is nothing short of remarkable. It's hard to believe its even the same property. How someone was able to take that unique casino layout, erase all the bad memories it recalled upon first site and replace it with the vibe it has on the bones of the past is beyond impressive. But its not just the casino. The D has really nice renovated rooms that carry through the cool vibe the property exudes. It has some quality, all be it limited, dining options, low limits and even vintage gaming options on the 2nd floor casino including the only surviving sigma derby machine on Fremont. Simply put, The D is the best property in downtown Las Vegas today.
360 Vegas Review: Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino Spring 2014
EMandalay Bay, or as some have referred to it as, the Mirage south, is a property that very much earns that comparison. From the gold tri-point tower, aquatic animal encounter, iconic pop cirque show and quality high-end dining, Mandalay Bay needed to be the Mirage 2.0 to overcome the tremendous disadvantaged of being the southernmost property on the Las Vegas Strip. Fortunately, it was successful. Mandalay Bay is exquisite without being pretentious, high-end without being snobby. It is simultaneously the culmination and, inadvertently, the downfall of Circus Circus enterprises, but we’ll save details about that for Vintage Vegas. Like the Mirage before it, MGM took it over and also like the Mirage, they’ve taken good care of it.
360 Vegas Review: Hencho en Vegas @MGM Grand Spring 2014

360 Vegas Review: MGM Grand Hotel & Casino Spring 2014
EAt the time, MGM Grand (now Bally's) was the largest hotel casino in the world. However in that incarnation, MGM is better known as the location of the deadliest fire in strip history. In 1999, it opened, once again at the time, the largest hotel casino in the world with the least appealing entrance to Asian gamblers ever created. It was a giant lion that you walked under. These are just a couple examples that make the MGM Grand a complex property to eloquently summarize. When it opened, the emerald green building and the experience within was meant to pay tribute to the studios all time great movie the wizard of oz. Complete with a yellow brick road that lead to an amusement park studio attraction meant to celebrate all of the studios history. Less than 10 years into the properties existence, both are a different kind of history. MGM Grand challenges the notion that bigger is always better. The largest hotel in the city frequently has guests complaining they need a cab just to get to their room. The casino floor has been described by many as too big and by others as epic. It has a reputation for being home to some of the best and worst dining experiences. Despite all that, perhaps the fact that they refuse to stop trying is the most telling aspect of MGM Grand. Ideas that haven't worked have been replaced with better ones. Sections of the casino have been configured to feel smaller and more intimate and that failed amusement park was turned into condos that were so successful it can be credited with being one of the pioneers of that movement in Las Vegas. Ultimately MGM Grand needs to be experienced...with caution.

360 Vegas Review: StripSteak @Mandalay Bay Fall 2014
EIt’s steak, the pinnacle of protein. Ask anyone what they would want for their final meal before shifting off this mortal coil and 100% of the time they’ll answer steak, and if they don’t, they’re gay. What! Gay people are awesome and love them so tube steak so that does work. They’re Hitler. Right, no one likes Hitler. Whatever, its steak and its goooood. This time around, Michael Mina steps up to the plate to see if he can impress our pallet and dethrone STK, which I totally agree is the best steak in Vegas. But who is this Michael Mina guy. Well, he’s a James Beard winner, whatever that means, as well as being declared chef and restaurateur of year multiple times from multiple people, what-evs. He’s got 18 restaurants in the US and 4 in Vegas. We tried Strip Steak at Mandalay Bay

360 Vegas Review: Center Cut Steakhouse @Flamingo Spring 2014
EIt's almost unfair. Because Vegas has so many dining options that are stellar, good just isn't good enough. In fact good can often be considered bad. That very well might be the case with Center Cut at Flamingo. Unarguably the nicest space in the property, Center Cut's decor congers up memories of Tender @ Luxor. The vibe and the fact that they both serve steak is unfortunately where the comparison ends. Despite enjoying virtually everything else the property has to offer, Flamingo has given us a rather remarkable streak of disappointing dining experiences. Center cut would did not buck that trend.

360 Vegas Review: The View & Moon @Palms Fall 2013
EPalms invented the Vegas nightclub. Posh, over-the-top environments where the beautiful people congregate to see and be seen. Many mocked the financial viability of creating a diversion that keeps people from gambling for extended periods of time. Not only did Maloof prove them wrong, he did it so well, it drew people away from the strip at night. Now, nightclubs are one of the most profitable amenities Vegas properties offer. Eventually, as happens so many times in Vegas, the idea was replicated all over the strip and is now another Vegas staple. They’ve become so popular that it gave birth to the idea of day clubs. Despite breathtaking views of the strip from the top of their towers, Palms are no longer a major player in the game they invented. That brings us to the present The clubs that once caused long lines nightly, advertising exclusivity have become displaced in the market. Retheming and renovations are underway in an attempt to return to glory but his has them in a period of transition. The Playboy club has now been transformed into the View, A place where people can relax, play some pool and enjoy a drink as well as the view from atop their fantasy tower. Now that Ghostbar’s renovations are complete, Moon is closed so she can undergo the same changes, having lived the shortest life span of the nightclubs at the property. The odds are long that Palms will be able to reclaim their thrown as nightlife lords but then again, the same was said about those clubs ever being successful in the first place so they are trying. Only time will tell if they are successful.

360 Vegas Review: Flamingo Hotel & Casino Spring 2013
EThe Flamingo. The property that changed everything. The 3rd hotel/casino built on highway 91 introduced luxury to it. It created one of the cities most famous, all be it the most inaccurate, story of a mobsters involvement in a casino and made Bugsy Segal the cities unofficial father of the strip. The Flamingo has grown and expanded to the point that its original exterior design is unrecognizable in its current incarnation. It's said that virtually nothing remains from the original construction however stories of found hidden underground tunnels and bullet proof rooms live on in order to keep the legend of Bugsy alive. While it is true that the Flamingo has fallen all the way to the low end of the market, it has outlived many properties that came after it including icons like the Sands, the Dunes & the Desert Inn. Standing as proof that location, along with a well run property that adapts to its environment and evolves to cater to it, is truly how you survive in the implosion era. When you consider the table limits, the low room rates and having one of the best pools in Vegas, the Flamingo is the best option in the market for the thrifty visitor.

360 Vegas Review: BLT Burger @Mirage Spring 2013
EIn 2008, 4 years after Roy Horn was attacked by a tiger and their show ended, the Mirage decided that it made little sense to have a tiger habitat taking up prime real estate in their property. Enter ESquared hospitality and their BLT brand of restaurants. Vegas is a city constantly evolving and experimenting. When trends prove to be successful, they tend to become waves that wash over the strip, changing the landscape. Right now, we are coming towards the end of the pizza place wave and are currently in the midst of the retail revolution. BLT burger started the gourmet burger places evolution into a requirement at a quality Vegas property. BLT’s modern space, unique burger offerings, large beer on tap & spiked milkshake selection are all part of the template each property uses when building their burger place. Into their 6th year on the strip, BLT Burger is still considered one of the best in Vegas.

360 Vegas Review: KGB @Harrah's Fall 2013
EIllinois native Kerry Simon made a name for himself as the executive chef at the landmark Plaza Hotel in New York. Two years into the job, Rolling Stone named him the “Rock n Roll Chef” as well as one of the top personalities in 1991. Continuing to grow his fame, he’s made appears both as a challenger and a judge on Iron Chef as well as Hell’s Kitchen. In 2002, Kerry entered the Las Vegas market when he opened Simon Kitchen & Bar at the Hard Rock. That establishment was listed as one of America’s best new restaurants by Esquire magazine. His footprint in the market has grown since then Considering that the one time he won as a challenger on Iron Chef was the hamburger challenge, it only made sense that this first restaurant on the Vegas strip would be a burger joint. In 2010, Kerry opened Kerry’s Gourmet Burger, or KGB, at Harrah’s. As one would expect with the name, the theme of the place is Russian. The space and décor is set to look like you would imagine Russia looks like, at least the American idea of what Russia looks like.

360 Vegas Review: Nacho Daddy Spring 2014
ENacho Daddy is perhaps the greatest idea in the history of culinary invention. Take any food concept you love, deconstruct and recreate the experience then remove the bread and replace it with a bed crispy, salty tortilla chips. You don’t need Will Hunting to tell you that the answer to that equation equals exquisite dining. Buffalo chicken, cheeseburger, spicy shrimp, Filet Minion… yeah, I know. Take a second to collect yourself. Okay, lets proceed…TO BREAKFAST! Chorizo, chicken fried steak…okay, enough. I can’t stand it. It’s amazing. Just go to the audio.

360 Vegas Review: Beatles LOVE
ECalling Beatles LOVE by Cirque Du Soleil the best show in Vegas is a bit misleading because it implies two things. First, that its supremacy is even up for debate and second, that this statement could in someway be an opinion. Beatles LOVE is neither. The only item that could be mused about, for entertainment purposes only, mind you, is whether or not it is the greatest show in the history of ever. I would reiterate that the answer is clearly yes but to do so would be tantamount to calling you an idiot and we don't have idiots that listen to our show. Or at least, you demonstrate your willingness to be less of an idiot by listening to this show. So now that that is out of the way, lets proceed. Cirques 5th show in the Vegas market and their first using music from an individual artist showcasing their catalog and in some cases, their history, setup shop at the Mirage in 2009 and was an instant success. So much so that it became the template for every cirque show that came after it until the touring show Zarkana replaced the failed Viva Elvis show. The show is in the round, complete with sensory immersion from the speakers in the seats head rests to video screen to the stage that transforms right in front of you during the show. It’s an experience be had from the die hard to the most casual Beatles fan.
360 Vegas Review: Monte Carlo Hotel & Casino Fall 2013
ELocated somewhere between luxury and value, Monte Carlo is a property with an identity issue. Originally conceived as another Vegas themed resort, this one paying homage to her namesake in Europe, Monte Carlo offers the less affluent a chance to experience and enjoy luxury. However the properties theme does not accurately reflect her energy. The properties classic architecture can be enjoyed by the pool via the lazy river. Beautiful chandeliers and stained glass ceilings resided over low to mid-limit gaming tables and fine dining can be enjoyed 50 feet away from a fast food court. The Monte Carlo concept is almost the definition of an oxymoron, but in a good way. Monte Carlo is fun. It isn’t the kind of place you think of in “must do” or “you have to try” conversations. It isn’t a destination nor does it offer anything exceptionally unique, its just fun. Monte Carlo is like a well run McDonald’s or any popular fast food chain that offers good food at a good price. Monte Carlo offers Vegas fun for those that don’t want to stay at Circus Circus the lowest tier properties but can’t afford to stay at the Mirage or Caesars Palace.
