宋人有闵其苗之不长而揠之者，芒芒然归，谓其人曰：“今日病矣！余助苗长矣！”其子趋而往视之，苗则槁矣。
译文：
有个担忧他的禾苗长不高而把禾苗往上拔的春秋宋国人，一天下来，十分疲劳地回到家，对他的家人说：“今天累坏了，我帮助禾苗长高了！”他儿子小步奔去看那禾苗的情况，禾苗却都枯萎了。
