Ep 26The Future of Walt Disney World Vacation Planning

What Does the Future Hold for Walt Disney World Vacation Planning? With all that's happening in Disney Parks these days and with the Disney Genie planning app supposedly coming our way (possibly later in 2020 or even 2021), what will the Walt Disney World vacation planning process be like and how will it be different?Walt Disney World Vacation Planning will Never Be the SameAs Disney explores new ways to manage FastPasses, dining reservations and more, several factors are impacting how the entire Disney World vacation planning process will change (and hopefully progress) in the months ahead. Covid-19 summer rules at Disney Parks are affecting Disney's FastPass+ system and dining reservations (and more) and the impending release of the all-new Disney Genie planning app is on the horizon for release in later 2020 (although this date may no longer be in play). Plus, the Park Pass has now been launched, but will this be only temporary? With all of these factors in play, one thing we know for sure is that the current mottled process of trying to plan a Walt Disney World vacation is going to change (and hopefully for the better). The current system can be very stressful, which is something that needs to be addressed as Disney looks for ways to enhance the overall guest experience.Pay for Play at Walt Disney WorldOne thing that we think may become even more prominent is the pay for play model. We expect to Walt Disney World joining other theme parks (include other resorts of their own) in offering more paid upgrade options to get more FastPasses, extra access to events and so on. Where do we stand on pay for play? Listen to the show to hear our views. How Will the Walt Disney World Vacation Planning Process be Different? In Episode 26 of our Disney Travel Podcast, we take a look at what the future may hold for Walt Disney World vacation planning and how the process may be drastically different than it is today. Will the Disney vacation planning process be better or worse? Will travel agents still have a prominent role in planning Walt Disney World vacations? Will the Disney Genie app fill the needs of all types of Disney travelers?Join us for a look ahead at what the planning process might be like and what we hope to see as frequent vacationers to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. As promised in the episode, we have included a link to the official Disney announcement for the Disney Genie app from August 2019.Amelia and I Thank You for ListeningThank you very much for listening to this episode, Amelia and I hope that you enjoyed it. Ep 21The Secret Disney Vacation: Walt Disney World for Adults

What to Do on an Adults Only Walt Disney World VacationThe Secret Disney Vacation is an adults-only Walt Disney World vacation where the kids stay at home and the adults sneak away for a covert Disney vacation. In Episode 21 of the Disney Travel Podcast, hear how to craft a Secret Disney Vacation and everything to do with Walt Disney World for adults. What is a Secret Disney Vacation?Walt Disney World is super fun when you go with the kids, but sometimes you might wonder what it's like to experience the Disney magic without having the kids in tow. That's where the Secret Disney Vacation comes in. The Secret Disney Vacation is a term that I created many years ago when I was a Disney travel advisor. Ep 6Top Five Interactive Dining Experiences at Walt Disney World

Top 5 Interactive Dining Experiences at Walt Disney WorldDisney dining is one of the most important parts of any Walt Disney World vacation plan. But with literally hundreds of restaurants from which to choose, it can be a challenge for any Disney traveler to select the five or 10 that they'll visit during a week's vacation to Walt Disney World. In this episode, we focus specifically on interactive dining experiences at Walt Disney World. We describe interactive dining as any Disney dining experience where there will be some part of interaction between you and Disney Cast Members (beyond simply being served your food). Interactive dining can include dinner shows, character dining and everything in between.Amelia and I (Mike Belobradic) each prepared our personal top five lists before the episode and remarkably, four out the five selections were the same. We each had one that was different. On top of that, while our orders weren't exactly the same, our number one choice was the same.If you are planning a Walt Disney World vacation -- and particularly if it's your very first Walt Disney World vacation -- we recommend that at least one of these dining experiences be on your itinerary for the week. Here are our respective picks for the top five interactive dining experiences at Walt Disney World.Mike Belobradic's Top Five Recommendations for Interactive Dining at Walt Disney World ResortHoop Dee Doo Revue (Fort Wilderness Campground)Cinderella's Royal Table (Disney's Magic Kingdom Park)Whispering Canyon Cafe (Disney's Wilderness Lodge)Chef Mickey's (Disney's Contemporary Resort)Spirit of Aloha Luau (Disney's Polynesian Village Resort)Amelia Belobradic's Top Five Recommendations for Interactive Dining at Walt Disney World ResortHoop Dee Doo Revue (Fort Wilderness Campground)Whispering Canyon Cafe (Disney's Wilderness Lodge)Chef Mickey's (Disney's Contemporary Resort)Supercalifragilistic Breakfast (Disney's Grand Floridian Resort)Cinderella's Royal Table (Disney's Magic Kingdom Park)For More Information, Read the Following Post from the Luxury Disney Travel BlogTop 5 Interactive Dining Experiences at Walt Disney WorldListen to the full podcast episode to hear us discuss each of these Disney interactive dining experiences in more detail, including why we chose them for our lists. Ep 5Turning a Disneyland Vacation into a California Beach Vacation

Disney Theme Parks and Stunning California Beaches: Is There any Better Combination for a Family Vacation?Disneyland Resort in California is a great family destination, but unlike Walt Disney World in Florida it doesn't require an entire week to discover. Compared to the 43 square mile footprint of Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort is much smaller and more compact and you can easily have a great experience there in three days. But what should you do with the rest of your week's vacation?California has some stellar beach destinations with amazing hotels as well. We have two unbeatable options that can make for an exceptional seven-day California vacation. We do both of these options every couple of years and we recommend either of these as a great way to round out a week's stay in sunny Southern California. So with that in mind here are two California itineraries that have each proven to be an excellent combination of Disney experiences and California sightseeing. The best part about these vacation options is that the seven nights end up feeling like two weeks—in a good way. By the end of the second leg of the trip we always feel like we've been away for a two-week vacation. So consider both options and pick the one that sounds like it will work best for you. You can always try the other one on the next time around.Itinerary Option 1: Three Nights at Disneyland Resort and Four Nights at the Hotel Del Coronado in San DiegoThis option begins with a three-night stay at Disneyland, we recommend staying onsite at either the Grand Californian Hotel (our first choice) or the Disneyland Hotel. After three nights at Disneyland, take the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner from Anaheim to San Diego. It's a great scenic trip of mostly California coastline. Buy first class tickets (not that expensive) and try to sit on the upper level on the right side of the forward motion of the train. That will give you the best view of the coastline. In San Diego, spend four nights at the historic and stunning Hotel Del Coronado, located on the beach on Coronado Island. This hotel has an added bonus for any Disney fan: it was the inspiration for Disney's Grand Floridian Resort at Walt Disney World. The Del opened in 1888 -- 100 years before the Grand Floridian opened in 1988 -- and has a rich history of celebrities and resident ghosts. Listen to the podcast for all the details! There is much to do at the hotel, on Coronado and in the Greater San Diego area, so a four-night stay here is fun and entertaining for all ages. Plus, the spectacular beach and California sunsets are second to none.In this option, you will fly in to the Los Angeles area and fly out of San DiegoItinerary Option 2: Four Nights at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach and Three Nights at Disneyland ResortThis option begins with a four-night stay at the luxurious Hyatt Regency in Huntington Beach. In this itinerary, you will fly in and out of the L.A. area, as Huntington Beach is located in Orange County and is only an Uber/Lyft ride away from Disneyland in Anaheim. Huntington Beach is Surf City U.S.A. and is a fantastic spot for a true California beach vacation. The Hyatt here offers tons of upscale amenities and is great for all ages. Plus, the beach here is also very nice and the Huntington Beach Pier is a great destination and an easy walk along the water from the hotel. At night, the Huntington Beach area near the pier really comes to life and in the summer there is a night time festival hear that is great fun to adults and kids alike. Amelia and I discuss all the details in the podcast, so be sure to listen.Following your four nights in Huntington Beach, head to Disneyland Resort for the three-night stay as we noted above. Two Great Options to Make a Disneyland Vacation into a California Beach VacationIf you you're thinking of planning a Disneyland vacation, we highly recommend either of these tried and true itineraries that we created. Pick the one that sounds best to you and you're sure to create a lifetime of memories. There's a reason that we go back to both of these options again and again. For More Information, Read the Following Posts from the Luxury Disney Travel BlogA Picture Perfect Disney California Itinerary, featuring the Hotel Del CoronadoDisneyland and Huntington Beach: A California ItineraryWhere the Disney Traveler Goes When Not On a Disney VacationWhere to Stay in Huntington Beach, CaliforniaAmelia and I Thank You for ListeningThank you very much for listening to this episode, Amelia and I hope that you enjoyed it. Ep 4Disney Deluxe Villas: What are they and why might you stay in one?

Disney Deluxe Villas: What Are They and Why Would You Stay in One Instead of a Hotel Room?Disney Deluxe Villas are a separate category of accommodations that are part of the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) suite of properties. (DVC is Disney's version of a timeshare program). There are villas at Walt Disney World, Disneyland and other destinations away from Disney Parks. What many people don't realize, however, is that these upscale accommodations are available for booking by non-DVC members, making them a great option to consider particularly in three specific scenarios. I often describe the Deluxe Villas as being the Disney equivalent of a condominium, so you can picture these villas as Deluxe Disney condos. Most of the properties at Walt Disney World are linked to a corresponding Disney Deluxe Resort, but there are three standalone villa properties as well. Villas are available in several configurations, including studios (similar to a standard hotel room), one-bedroom villas, two-bedroom villas and grand villas, which are the largest. There are also several very unique options among Disney Deluxe Villas: including the Bora Bora Bungalows at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, the Cascade Cabins at Disney's Wilderness Lodge and the Treehouse Villas at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa.Why Might You Consider Staying in a Disney Deluxe Villa? Now that you know a little bit more about what they are, the question is: why would you stay in one? There are three main reasons why you might consider staying in a Disney Deluxe Villa instead of a traditional Disney Deluxe Resort hotel room:There is no hotel room availability at the hotel of your choice, but you would still like to stay on that property. You have a large family or group and you would prefer not to have to book multiple rooms. You like the idea of having kitchen facilities and laundry options during your stay. There are other great benefits to the Disney Deluxe Villas as well (listen to the episode for more details), but these are three common reasons as to why may wish to consider the Villas as an option for your next Walt Disney World or Disneyland vacation.Where are Disney Deluxe Villas Located? At Walt Disney World:Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary ResortBoulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness LodgeCopper Creek Villas and Cabins at Disney's Wilderness LodgeDisney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Jambo HouseDisney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani VillageDisney's Beach Club VillasDisney's Boardwalk VillasDisney's Old Key West ResortDisney's Polynesian Villas & BungalowsDisney's Riviera ResortDisney's Saratoga Springs Resort & SpaVillas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & SpaThere are also Disney Deluxe Villas located at destinations beyond Walt Disney World Resort. These include:Disney's Vero Beach Resort (Florida)Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort (South Carolina)Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa (Disneyland, California)Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa (Oahu, Hawaii)Amelia and I Thank You for ListeningAmelia and I thank you very much for listening to this episode -- we hope that you enjoyed it. If you're thinking about visiting Disneyland Paris and want to know a little bit more about what it's like, Amelia and I dive in to what it's like to visit Disneyland Paris from the perspective of a regular traveler to Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort. While the parks and atmosphere are similar, there are some key differences that are worthwhile knowing in advance. We start with some practical tips and advice on how to get to Disneyland Paris from Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris (there's no Magical Express here) and where to stay once you arrive. We discuss staying in Club Level at the Disneyland Hotel (Castle Club) and some of the very valuable benefits that you get when you stay there. You will also hear our take on the two parks at Disneyland Paris (Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios) and how some of the local ambiance and Cast Members differ from what you typically experience at a North American Disney Park. Ep 1Welcome to 1923 Main Street

Welcome to 1923 Main Street®: A Daddy Daughter Disney Travel PodcastIn this first episode of 1923 Main Street, get to know a little about your hosts: Mike Belobradic and Amelia Belobradic. As a dad and daughter Disney travel podcast team, Mike and Amelia share opinions and information about Disney travel based on their decades of experience of regular Disney vacations (50+ years for Mike and 10+ years for 11-year-old Amelia). You'll also learn what the 1923 Main Street name means and how it was created.About Your Hosts: Mike Belobradic and Amelia BelobradicSince Walt Disney World first opened in 1971, Mike has taken over 100 Walt Disney World vacations from his home in Toronto, Canada -- that's multiple weeks spent onsite at Disney resort hotels every year since 1971. At age 11, Amelia is approaching 30 Walt Disney World vacations and is well on a pace to outdo her dad (not that they compete at all, or anything...). In addition to Walt Disney World, Mike and Amelia also travel to and discuss Disneyland Resort, Disney Vacation Club resorts, Disneyland Paris and more. For three weeks each year, they're hopping on a plane to visit Disney destinations far and wide. The perspective at 1923 Main Street is from a vacationers point of view, not as a local who visits the parks (but does not stay in resort hotels or view their visits as vacations). In addition to introducing themselves and a little bit of background information, Mike and Amelia begin to share a little about their respective points of view. You'll hear how each of them answer the following questions related to Disney vacations:Favorite Disney Resort HotelFavorite Disney ParkFavorite Disney AttractionFavorite Disney RestaurantFavorite Disney SnackWill their answers be the same? Tune in to find out. Plus, since Mike prepared these questions, Amelia surprised Mike with an unexpected sixth question. You'll definitely want to hear how that went!Amelia and I Thank You for ListeningThank you very much for listening to this episode -- Amelia and I hope that you enjoyed it.
