Show Notes
Show Description Today's show, "The Parson's Daughter of Oxney Colne" by Anthony Trollope, introduces readers to the remote beauty of Dartmoor and the life of Patience Woolsworthy, a strong-willed young woman who manages her father's parish household. Her world is suddenly widened in the expanse of love when her neighbor and friend, Miss Le Smyrger, has a relative visit that leads to romance for Patience. However, the story takes a turn when their differing values and social expectations begin to clash, particularly as Captain Broughton begins a campaign to "improve" Patience for London society.
