Radhey! Mohin, Charan Kamal Raj Keejai : Swami Maheshvaranand

Watch video at: https://www.radhakrishnaprem.com/p/radhey-mohin-charan-kamal-raj-keejaiO my Radhey! Please make me the dust of Your lotus feet. That footdust which has the honor of being soaked with the loving tears of Krishn every time when you enter into maan state. That footdust which Kamala (MahaLakchmi), rubbing Her hands in despair, desires to receive (by doing devotional austerity for millions of years, but she cannot). That footdust for which Brahma, after doing a prolonged pious austerity, beggingly requested and said, “Please Grace me with Your footdust." (But, still he could not receive it.) O Radhey! You are so kind that you Grace a soul without any requisite. So, please listen to my humble request (and give me my desired thing).(It is a saying that) a blind person gains faith only when he receives the eyesight. (So, O my Radhey! I will be contented only when I will receive Your Grace and I will see Your sweet face.) Shri Radhey hamari sarkar, phikir mohin kahe ki _ December 2022

She immediately runs to him, forgetting even Her Beloved Shyamsundar. When She is so kind-hearted, simple and loving, why should I worry about anything in the world?Even the Supreme Lord Shri Krishna anxiously watches the movement of Her eyebrows, in fear of having displeased Her. Who else should I be afraid of having surrendered to Her?When such a Supreme Personality is my protector, then why should I worry about anything in the world? If one cries desperately to Her and accepts Her to be his protector, My Radha Rani keeps him always under the shadow of Her eye like a mother does her beloved son.Says Shri Kripalu ji Maharaj, “I am under the care of such a gracious protector. The power of simply believing in God

Watch video at: https://www.radhakrishnaprem.com/p/the-power-of-simply-believingThe Divine souls!Kathopanishad tells us the power of simply believing in God:अस्तीत्येवोपलब्धव्यस्तत्त्वभावेन चोभयोः । अस्तीत्येवोपलब्धस्य तत्त्वभावः प्रसीदति ॥ १३॥astītyevopalabdha vyastattvabhāvena cobhayoḥ. astītyevopalabdhasya tattvabhāvaḥ prasīdati.- Kathopanishad: 2.3.13If somebody really believes, “Shri Krishna is here right now in front of me!” (It) really means 100%, then they actually will see Him. He will become visible or make Himself visible to us. He's already present because He's omnipresent. He pervades every particle, and that too not only as a formless emanation or formless Divine light, but in His personal form. “Yadyapisakāro yam tathaik deshi,” Shankaracharya Ji also says, “even during Your avatar, You come and You're seen at one place in Your Divine body, but You're still everywhere else in Your same Divine body.” So imagine, Shri Krishna is everywhere with His Divine body, and the one who fully accepts and believes that,भिद्यते हृदयग्रन्थिश्छिद्यन्ते सर्वसंशया: । क्षीयन्ते चास्य कर्माणिbhidyate hṛidaya-granthiśchidyante sarv-saṁśhayāḥ. kṣīyante chāsya karmāṇi.- BhagwatamThe moment you believe that, you see Krishna face to face and then all the other bondages are finished. The knot of mayic ignorance in the heart, hṛidaya-granthiśhchidyante. We forget we're a Divine being. We start thinking we're this temporary material body. All mayic things are temporary. They all degrade from the time they come into being. They begin eroding, aging, and eventually, they fade and finish altogether, whether it's our body or whether it's a physical building, even a mountain. Any shape or structure that is created or comes into being in this world has an expiration date. And from the time it's created, it's always deteriorating. Every sweet meeting ends in separation because everything is temporary in this world, and everything that is born must die. But the soul doesn't die. We forget that. We forget that we're a Divine soul. We have a knot of Mayic ignorance that leads to all other kinds of mistakes. If we believe we're this temporary Mayic body, then we also believe that the temporary pleasures of the Mayic world can make us happy, which they never completely do. Then we only think about them. We get attached to them. We perform all kinds of actions to attain those pleasures, selfish, bad actions. Then we have to be punished for that in the future. So see how much suffering we create for ourselves, plus the stress and tension of trying to attain those things in the first place, all because we forgot we're a Divine soul.So the moment you surrender to Sri Krishna, that knot of my ignorance in the heart is finished forever. chidyante sarva-saṁśayāḥ. All the doubts and confusions are finished forever. Now you'll never be separate from God. You'll always see Him directly in front of you, so how would you ever doubt Him?And all your karma, Hṛdaya-granthiśchidyante cāsya karmāṇi, all your past karma is also deleted. Your infinite previous actions from uncountable past lives, what is called Sanchit Karam, that's deleted. Your bondage of karm, which is created by the attachment of the mind in the world, is also finished. So kriyaman karm is finished. You can never do new karm that will bind you because your mind is in God only. And your prarabha Karm, even though you're free from that, most God realized Saints decide to undergo it anyway, but they don't feel anything in their heart. It's just a physical thing they undergo. So you're free from the bondage of karm. You're free from ignorance. You're free from doubts and confusions. And you meet God face to face.So how do we get to this point? Simple. Just practice. The mind has the power to do anything. Our thinking is:mana eva manushyanam karanam bandha-mokshayohVedas say the mind is the cause of bondage and liberation. If we keep thinking we're this body and we only dwell upon the objects of the senses that we wish to enjoy, then our mind keeps us attached and bound in maya. And if we use the same mind to have faithful thoughts about Shri Krishna, that mind releases us from bondage. The power is in the mind. All you have to do is think, “Krishna is right here. He's with me. He's looking at me, smiling at me. He's my Divine companion. He's always with me. He always has been. He is now, and He always will be the perfect Divine friend.”Think that over and over and over again. This ‘astītyevopalabdhasya’ Kathopanishad is saying. You have to become astik. You have to really believe in God that He's right here with you. We have to practice to become astik. You may think, oh, I am astik because I believe in God. Yes. We do believe in God in some percentage, but not 100%. If we had 100% faith in God, we would meet Shri Krishna right now. We would have met Him already. So to become astik, a true believer in God, we have to practice. And the practice is simple. Just keep thinking over and over

Why do we get angry, and how do we control it? Swami Nikhilanand Ji

Watch video at: https://www.radhakrishnaprem.com/p/why-do-we-get-angry-and-how-do-weThe Divine Souls!Today we'll be taking up, a topic, a very common question about anger: Why do we get angry, and how do we control it? Every question, no matter how small, if we are to answer it correctly, requires an understanding of the whole philosophy, because every question is like a thread. You pull on it, and it leads back to the core of the philosophy. So to answer this simple question, I will have to give you a very brief insight into the philosophy that is taught by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj. Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj has explained this topic many times according to Vedas and Gita and Puran. and as he always quotes from all these main scriptures to make any spiritual point. So let us see.Anger. Why do we have it and how to control it? Why? We can look at a couple of different layers of why. Gita says, if we want to go right to the origin of anger, Gita gives us a very straightforward answer. Saṅgāt sañjāyate kāmaḥ kāmāt krodho ’bhijāyate.- Bhagavad Gita: 2/ 62“Krodh” is anger. Where does ‘krodh’ come from? When you have a desire that is unfulfilled, you get angry. Very simple. If we always got our way, would we ever get angry? If everybody always did whatever we wanted, when would we ever get angry? If everything we thought automatically happened, we would never get angry. So, anger is the result of unfulfilled desire. So if somebody wants to eliminate anger, guess what you have to eliminate? Desire.Okay. So then we come to desire. Why do we have desire? Gita says, “You repeatedly think about someone or something. And through this thinking, when you think of them that ‘I will get happiness from this person or this thing’”. Gita uses the word dhyan. You keep thinking about them. It's like a meditation on that person. You get attached.Dhyāyato viṣhayān puṁsaḥ saṅgas teṣhūpajāyate.Sangha or attachment arises through this repeated chintan. And why were we doing the chintan of that person? Because we believe them to be a source of happiness. So, now we have a link. Why do we get angry? Because we have a desire. And if by chance that desire is unfulfilled, then we get angry. Okay. Why do we have desires? Because we're attached to a particular person or thing. Whoever or whatever we're attached to, naturally, the desire for that thing will arise in the mind over and over again. It happens automatically. How big is the attachment? That big, that intense is the desire, and that intense will be the anger if the desire is unfulfilled. So attachment leads to desire which can, if unfulfilled, lead to anger. And where does attachment come from? Repeatedly thinking this person is mine. They will give me happiness. This thing is mine. I will get happiness from it.So chintan causes asakti (attachment). That leads to kamana (desire). That leads to krodh (anger). And what is the origin of our thought process? This thing, this person will give me happiness. Why do we think that? Because we have a need for happiness. So if somebody could eliminate their need for happiness, then there would be no question of ever getting angry. However, our Vedas and other dharmic scriptures say that this is impossible. No one can eliminate their need for happiness because we are all ansh of Bhagwan; we're all a part of God, and God Himself is perfect happiness. And it is the nature of every anshi (part) to desire their ansh (whole). It is the nature of every part to desire the whole. Therefore, the soul, each one of us, is an individual soul, we all desire God. And God is perfect happiness, therefore, we all desire perfect happiness. So can we stop desiring perfect happiness? No. Impossible. Even if we try for millions of years or millions of lifetimes, no one can change their nature of desiring perfect happiness. That's why every living being naturally wants to avoid pain and discomfort and wants to find comfort and happiness. Even an ant knows that much to avoid a painful situation. So this nature of the soul, the Divine soul, cannot be changed. We innately desire Divine happiness. And because of that, because we desire Divine happiness, we naturally seek it every second of every day. And since we're living in the physical world, and for us God is invisible until we become qualified to meet God, we can't see God, but we see the world, so we naturally start desiring the world. Then once you desire the world, then you create attachments, and then the repeated desire for those specific people and things arise in the mind. And then if you don't get what you want, then anger comes naturally. So that leaves us at an impasse. It's impossible to remove anger. If you follow the logical links, every soul automatically and naturally desires happiness. Because of that original desire for happiness, we seek it in the people a

How to Eliminate Stress: Swami Nikhilanand Ji

Watch video at: https://www.radhakrishnaprem.com/p/how-to-eliminate-stress-swami-nikhilanandSwami Nikhilanand Ji says stress is often seen as the problem itself, but in reality, it is just a symptom. Many methods, such as exercise, meditation, and hobbies, help manage stress temporarily, but they do not eliminate it. He explains, "Trying to control stress won’t eliminate stress because it’s like if you have a brain tumor and you take an aspirin for your headache. To truly eliminate stress, one must address its root causes, which stem from deeper existential and emotional struggles.”Swami Nikhilanand Ji examines this from a couple of different perspectives. “One is intellectual. Intellectually we don't know who we are. Who am I? So this is an existential problem, and we may not analyze it to that depth but that's actually true for all of us. We all really wonder, Who am I and where do I belong?” We're always trying to fit in. We're always trying to figure out how to act and behave so that we'll finally feel like we are home.” He points out that even in familiar settings people feel disconnected, "Do you notice that you don’t even feel home in your own home?" This search for belonging leads to a persistent dissatisfaction fueling stress.Another fundamental cause of stress is our deep-seated unhappiness. Even when people achieve worldly success, love, or wealth, they often feel a lingering void. Even when you’re in the arms of someone who loves you the most, there’s still fear, “Even this isn’t enough!" This endless search for fulfillment intensifies stress and anxiety. The intellectual solution to stress begins with understanding our true nature. The scriptures teach that "you are not the body”. The body and mind are temporary, but the soul is eternal. "Nothing can destroy me. I have been here forever. I will be here forever!" By recognizing that we are Divine souls, part of Shri Krishna, and that He is always with me, we can start to detach from worldly fears and uncertainties. This realization alone can significantly reduce stress.Swami Nikhilanand Ji says, “However, intellectual understanding on its own is not enough. We need to experience something.” What is that? Happiness. The pursuit of happiness drives all human actions; worldly pleasures never provide lasting fulfillment. So, instead of thinking, “How can I relieve myself from stress and pain?” We could just think, “How could I find happiness?” The temporary pleasures of the world have never been enough. This is because we are inherently Divine beings, and only Divine happiness can complete us. True joy comes from experiencing and connecting with God. Taittirīyopaniṣad says, “God Himself is happiness.” Part of our stress is that we’re looking for happiness and failing to find it and only through devotion and love for Krishna can one find lasting peace.Swami Nikhilanand Ji says, “Both the intellectual side and experiential side go hand in hand.” In other words, you need to understand the intellectual theory; what we call tattva gyan - Who am I? How am I related to God? Where do I belong? Where is perfect happiness? But then you also have to experience that perfect happiness. The ultimate experience comes when you become God realized. So to become God realized, you have to follow the path to God. While we follow the path to God, it’s not a long empty path with only the payoff coming at the end. No. The path to God is full of experiences that keep bringing you closer and closer. So naturally our feelings of insecurity and stress reduce as this devotional experience goes on expanding as we follow the path to GodMemorable Quotes from the Discourse:* "Stress is not the actual problem. Stress is merely a symptom."* "Trying to control stress won’t eliminate stress because, well, it’s like if you have a brain tumor and you take an aspirin for your headache."* "We all really wonder, “Who am I and where do I belong?"”* "At the root of all of this, we are unhappy even when we enjoy the brief pleasures of this world. Even that doesn't cure that inner void we feel."* "Even when you’re in the arms of someone who loves you the most, there’s still fear."* "You are not the body. The body dies, but you don’t die, so you are something other than the body."* "You are not your mind either because when you go to sleep at night, you enter into a state called sushupti (deep sleep)."* "So we have to remember, “I am the soul. I am a Divine soul and nothing can destroy me!"”* "Something may harm my body. Nothing can harm my soul."* "We feel alone because we forget that Krishna is with us."* "Instead of thinking how can I relieve myself from stress and pain, we could just think, “How could I find happiness?"”* "Happiness is none other than God…God himself is happiness."* "Material pleasures can’t satisfy the Divine soul. Only Divine God can make us feel complete."* "No person in this world can love another perfectly because we ourselves aren’t perfect."* "The path to God is not a

Q & A with Swami Nikhilanand Ji: May 25, 2019

Watch video at: https://www.radhakrishnaprem.com/p/q-and-a-with-swami-nikhilanand-ji-1A devotee’s question: Because we talk about spirituality in general…spirituality is one way where we think that being thankful for what we have, does it actually help us to make our stress go down? Is that part of spirituality? I mean, having the ability, because as humans, we all have desires, so being thankful for what we have in life, does it actually make us more or less stressed?Swami Nikhilanan Ji’s answer: I would say that's part of having a positive outlook. Being thankful for what we have is part of several things that we could keep in mind to maintain a positive outlook. But, what we want to do is go even beyond that. We want to create a real connection with God that goes even deeper than just being thankful for the material things we have, but where we actually start feeling Divine God's presence with us. So that's a much deeper goal.A devotee’s question: When I close my eyes and so sometimes I feel okay, “I am a soul. I'm not a body,” but the problem starts when I interact with the world. When I go to the job, when I meet my friends, meet my enemies, and meet my wife even. So, how can the practice help me to remember in that situation that I'm a soul and not the body and so what kind of practice can I do to detach from that world?Swami Nikhilanand Ji’s answer: The path to God includes the practice of meditation which we do here, By practicing meditation every day, what ends up happening is that that spiritual consciousness which you referred to where you have some awareness of your Divinity, that spiritual consciousness has to be integrated into our material active life and initially the two don't integrate but the more we practice the more that spiritual awareness becomes almost like our baseline. It becomes our regular waking consciousness. But that takes time. It takes practice, and it actually happens naturally. So the more we call the meditation we do here is a very specific meditation called roop dhyan where we meditate on God Himself. So, by doing this, we create and deepen a connection with God. So while you're doing the meditation, eventually you start experiencing something in a very deep way. And in the beginning, again, you get the disconnect. As soon as you stop your meditation, the world just takes over. But eventually, over the weeks or months or years, if you keep practicing, that actually spills over into your (life) like a rising tide. It starts spilling over into your material activities or your material consciousness, you can say. But, it's a process. It takes time. There's no easy way. There's no shortcut or trick. You just have to keep practicing until that enters your daily waking consciousness.A devotee’s question: I wonder if you can tell us how to stop getting happiness from the wrong things, be it eating, sleeping, laziness, drinking, what have you?Swami Nikhilanand Ji’s answer: Recognizing that those are temporary pleasures is part of it, but the real effect comes when we start… Remember, I was saying we have to get some experience of God and it starts small and grows. So, the more experience we get by following the path to God and the bigger that experience becomes, the more space in our heart it takes up and the less interest our mind has in those types of pleasures that you were describing. It's not wrong for the mind to want happiness or pleasure. It's our nature, because God Himself is happiness and we're a part of Him. So we naturally desire happiness and pleasure, but the thing is we're seeking it from the world instead of seeking the Divine happiness from God. So, until the mind starts experiencing that happiness, it's never going to let go of the material pleasures. So don't worry too much. I mean, have the knowledge about the limited nature of the material pleasures, but don't worry about forcefully making the mind leave those things. Think more about how can I attach my mind to God and start experiencing devotional happiness, devotional pleasure, and that will create a natural transition where your mind will naturally start becoming more interested in God than in the world.A devotee’s question: As you said, being intellectual… Stress can be managed or stress can be reduced. What about emotional intelligence? Like when you are in stress, your emotions can go up and down and that it's really difficult to control emotions. It can be visible to your face and it's a different situation while working, while at home, anywhere in the world. So how are we to control the emotions? Like the two theories you suggested, like being intellectual, but emotional intelligence is a completely different thing. How do we combine with spirituality?Swami Nikhilanand Ji’s answer: Well, there's two things. There's eliminating the root cause of that emotional volatility, which is the very same we're talking about. The root cause is the same - we're separated from God and we're unable to experience God

Lessons in Humility _ Swami Nikhilanand Ji

Watch video at: https://www.radhakrishnaprem.com/p/lessons-in-humilityThe Divine Souls!Today we're going to look at one shlok, a famous and important shlok by Chaitanya Mahaprabhuji which is also oft quoted by Jagadguru Shree Kripalu ji Maharaj. It has to do with remembering Radha Krishna and Their name all the time and developing deep feelings of humbleness. So, let us see what this shlok says and then we'll consider the practical application of it, because along with understanding the basic theory or knowledge, we have to know, in certain cases, the nuances of how to apply it in our life. So Mahaprabhuji says,Tṛiṇādapi su-nīchen tarorapi iva sahiṣhṇunā. amāninā mān-den kīrtanīyaḥ sadā hariḥ.- Chaitanya Charitamrit: Adi 17.31“A devotee, someone who wants to follow the path of bhakti and attain Radha Krishna in this life, they should be as humble as a blade of grass, as forbearing as a tree. They should not demand honor from others but give respect to other people and chant the name of Radhe Govind all the time.”Being more humble than a blade of grass like the lawn out there you walk on It doesn't grumble. You put your foot on its head. It bends down. Then it pops back up. So be as humble as a blade of grass, Chaitanya Mahaprabhuji says, and as forbearing as a tree, ‘sahen shīlitā’, we say in Hindi. It means the ability to bear without lashing out. Why is the tree being used as an example? Because think of how generous and giving a tree is. The tree grows tall and provides shade from the sun, shelter from the rain, and wind; fruit for us to eat. And what does it bear? Oh, we plunder its fruit, we break its branches, cut its branches. We use everything and the tree just keeps giving and bearing everything without ever lashing out or getting grumpy. So, such forbearance is the example of ‘sahen shĩlitā’ is the tree. And in the third quarter of the verse Mahaprabhuji says, “Amāni nā.” Don't demand mān. Mān means ‘respect’. We have that reaction, “Do you know who I am?” That kind of thing. “How dare you?” That type of bhao is opposite of what Mahaprabhuji is saying. Don't demand respect from others. Mān dena - give respect to others. Obviously this is a very high ideal. This is the topmost state of being that we're trying to achieve and it doesn't happen easily. This grows within us as we progress. Many times people have asked Jagadguru Shree Kripalu ji Maharaj, “How do I know if I'm progressing on this path?” So, if you're progressing, your mind, your heart would be purifying, and the more pure your mind becomes the more it becomes infused with the grace of God and Guru, the more our ‘sahen shīlitā’ grows. Our forbearance grows. We become more like the tree, “Oh, it doesn't bother us. It's okay.” We become more like the grass. “Oh, it's good to be humble. I'm not looking for anybody's respect. I am the lowest of the low. It's okay. Everybody else can be respected. I don't need to be respected.” This is not like acting on the outside, but truly we become more and more like this on the inside. So, Shree Maharaj Ji says, “You want to know how much progress you're making? Measure how much sahen shīlitā has grown? How much dīnitā, how much humbleness has grown? Then there must have been some progress made, but how much you yourself can judge by how much this bhao has grown in your heart. Now practically living this… see, it's something that has to be practiced. Right? On one hand simply by doing sadhana which we practice here, sitting and doing Roopdhyan of Radha Krishna with kirtan, that will purify your heart. And, doing seva to Guru; that will purify your heart. But along the way, we also have to start pretending. I told you the real progress is you're not pretending from inside; you're becoming more forbearing and more humble. But we also have to pretend from the outside. In this case, pretending is not a bad thing. It's practicing. We're practicing being humble. We're practicing being forbearing.Shree Kripaluji Maharaj says, “Practice this and see how much mental peace you get. When somebody criticizes you, say, “Oh, thank you! I was focusing on my good qualities, and I was focusing on other people's bad qualities. It was giving me a sense of self superiority, which is the opposite of humbleness. Thank you for pointing out my faults!” He says you should get to the point where you feel like, “Hey! Nobody criticized me today! Something's missing!” You have, like an itch, “Oh, I hope somebody points out my fault so I can become more humble!” He says when that starts happening now know that you're truly a sadhak; you're truly a devotee. So, it's okay if we're not really like that on the inside but we can know that practicing that will make God and Guru happy. We were listening to a lecture early this morning where Shree Kripalu Maharaj was defining the word bhakti and saying that bhakti means seva. And although we don't have any power or possessions with which we could actually serve God or a God realized Saint, but t

The Key To God Realization: Devotion or Grace? Sushree Diwakari Devi Ji

Watch video at: https://www.radhakrishnaprem.com/p/the-key-to-god-realization-devotionSpiritually inclined souls! On our journey to the Divine, often we come across a dilemma: Is God attained by the efforts of our devotional practice? Or is it only through God's grace that we can realize Him?The Ramayan details the sequence for attaining God, “Only through God's grace can we know Him and obtain His knowledge. Only after attaining His knowledge or knowing Him can one develop faith. And complete faith leads to the development of prem or true love,” Goswami Tulsiday tells us:जानें बिनु न होइ परतीती - बिनु परतीति होइ नहिं प्रीती Jane binu na hoi partiti, binu partiti hoi nahi priti- Ramcharitmanas(Without knowledge of God, one cannot develop faith in Him and without faith, one cannot develop love for God)Goswami Tulsidas further tells us in the Ramayan, “It may be possible to extract butter by churning water or oil from sand, but it is virtually impossible to cross the ocean of cosmic existence without devotion to God.”Goswami Tulsidas Ji tells in the Ramayan:जप तप नियम जोग निज धर्मा। श्रुति संभव नाना सुभ कर्मा॥ ग्यान दया दम तीरथ मज्जन। जहँ लगि धर्म कहत श्रुति सज्जन॥jap tap niyam jog nij dharma. shruti sambhav naana subh karma. gyaan daya dam teerath majjan. jahan lagi dharm kahat shruti sajjan.आगम निगम पुरान अनेका। पढ़े सुने कर फल प्रभु एका॥ तव पद पंकज प्रीति निरंतर। सब साधन कर यह फल सुंदर॥aagam nigam puraan aneka. padhe sune kar phal prabhu eka. tav pad pankaj preeti nirantar. sab saadhan kar yah phal sundar.रघुपति भगति सजीवन मूरी। अनूपान श्रद्धा मति पूरी॥raghupati bhagati sajivan muri. anupan shraddha mati puri.“The Lord of the Raghus, Shri Ram, cannot be found except by love, even if one may be practicing yoga, austerity, or even cultivate spiritual wisdom or dispassion.” So, quite naturally a question arises as to if God has attained on the strength of our own devotional practice, then He is not granting us any favors. Right? So why should we feel obliged when God-realization is due to the efforts of our own practice of devotion and bhakti? Why then is God called ‘causelessly merciful’? We just recited the beginning prayer, and in that we uttered, “He akāraņ karuņ…” Why is it then that God is called causelessly merciful? If He is indeed causelessly merciful, then why doesn't He manifest Himself before us instead of us having to do devotion or without us having to do devotion rather? So, let us unravel this mystery.First of all, we need to understand that devotion is not ‘a price’ to pay for God-realization. Let's first comprehend the true meaning or the right meaning of devotion, identify who ought to perform or practice devotion and the consequences of devotional practice. So devotion means oneness of the mind with God. Oneness of the mind with God or loving God with all your heart and mind. Tulsidasi Ji, Surdasi Ji, Mira, these Saints had unwavering and resolute love for God. They performed single-minded devotion to God. We, inversely, perform devotion by external acts of prayer while our mind remains entangled in worldly desires. We ‘goose step’ to the dictates of our mind only to gratify our material senses. In other words, we attempt to fool God who resides within us in our heart, forgetting that He is omnipresent and omniscient, and is witness to each and every thought of our mind. So, it is our mind that has to practice devotion. It's the mind. Now our mind is a product of the cosmic energy maya, and therefore, it is inert. The cosmic energy maya. Our mind is a product of maya which is inert. So anything, whatever our mind envisages or fathoms is within the realm of maya, whereas God is Divine. And so to receive or perceive Divine power, we need to have a Divine receptacle - a Divine pātra. That's what we need. So, how can anything material be the price for something Divine? How is it possible? So here, God's causelessly merciful nature comes into play. And so, He graciously accepts our material, mayic devotion and assists us in our spiritual journey in growing our bhakti, our devotion, our spiritual efforts. That's what He does. So, with constant practice, devotion purifies our mind. And we are able to get rid of or overcome worldly cravings, attachments, and all of those impurities; they begin to dissipate from our mind. So, the mind will not be Divinized by devotion. Then what will happen to the mind? The mind will only become purified through devotional practice. And once the mind is fully a 100% purified, then God will shower His grace and bestow His Divine power upon us through one of His loving Divine associates. And endowed with a Divine mind, we will then be able to perceive, visualize God in His actual true Divine glory. So the question then, the key to God realization, which was the topic of my lecture today, (is it) devotion or grace? The answer is: both are indispensable, Devotion and grace; both lead us to our ultimate goal of this human life, to the ultimate goal of this human existence t

How to Meditate According to the Gita

Watch video at: https://www.radhakrishnaprem.com/p/how-the-gita-teaches-to-meditateSwami Nikhilanand Ji tells us that meditation, according to the Bhagavad Gita, involves focusing the mind on God, particularly Shri Krishna, with emotional devotion. In the Bhagavad Gita, Shri Krishna teaches that meditation is not just about focusing the mind but involves deep emotional attachment to Him. In Chapter 6, Krishna directly instructs Arjun, "mat-chittaha" (6.47), meaning that one should focus their mind on Him, and "mat-paraha" (6.47), which indicates that meditation should be done with love and devotion towards Him.Shri Krishna did not say meditate by breathing and just concentrate on your breath coming in and out. That's a nice way to meditate. Very relaxing. But keep in mind, whatever your mind is dwelling upon, you get the qualities of that. So, Krishna is Divine bliss and perfect goodness. So, if you want to imbibe blissfulness, if you want to receive Krishna's grace, if you want to purify your mind, then you have to attach your mind to Him. One shouldn't think that, “Oh, meditation is meditation. It's all the same!”Krishna states, "Upavishyasane yunjyad yoga matma vishuddhaye" (6.11), which means that the purpose of meditation is to purify the mind. He also explains that a true yogi is one who joins their mind with Him and in doing so, (their) mind gets purified because He is pure and we are attaching our mind to Him.In the 12th chapter, when Arjun asks about meditating on Krishna’s formless aspect, Krishna responds, "It is very difficult to meditate on My formless aspect" (12.5), advising instead to meditate on His personal form. Krishna says that focusing on His personal form, with all its attributes like His eyes, face, and movements, is a more accessible and powerful way to connect with Him. This form-based meditation, called "Roopdhyan", was further elaborated by Jagatguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj, who highlighted its importance in purifying the mind and strengthening the emotional connection with Krishna.Memorable Quotes from the Discourse:* "Meditating is a very effective way of doing that. Repeatedly thinking about something in a very deep way, in fact, is meditation."* "We are dwelling upon it (worldly affairs are negative or spiritual affairs are positive) almost constantly. That is meditation."* "When we meditate on a person or a thing emotionally like that, then it actually affects the quality of our mind."* "In the Gita, what does Sri Krishna say we should focus our mind upon? He says, 'Mat-chittaha.' (Think of me)."* "He (Shri Krishna) says, 'Attach your mind to Me, engross your heart in remembering Me.'"* "In fact, a yogi is synonymous with a devotee. Yoga is synonymous with bhakti."* "Mat-paraha is one little word. Mat again means ‘in me’. And ‘paraha’ is a little word … that means to love Him."* "And by doing so, our mind gets purified because He is pure and we're attaching our mind to Him."* "Yoga means to join our mind with Him."* "Krishna didn't say, clear your mind and think of nothing. No, He said, 'I know your mind is going to think of something … So whatever you are thinking of, put me there."* "Shree Kripalu Ji Maharaj gave this meditation the name Roopdhyan - if you're thinking of Krishna in His personal form, it means you'll think of His actual form. What does He look like? How are His eyes, His hair, His face? What is He wearing? How does He move?"Please watch the video or read the transcript to fully grasp the essence of the discourse. Please note that the transcript has not been proofread. Q & A with Swami Nikhilanand Ji: December 19, 2021

Watch video at: https://www.radhakrishnaprem.com/p/q-and-a-with-swami-nikhilanand-jiA devotee is asking: Does sāyujya mukti mean losing one's individuality forever? The goal of meditation is to join our mind with Krishna. Now when you and I do that our mind is partly and temporarily joined with Krishna The more we practice the deeper that state of union becomes, but we're not perfectly attached to Krishna. We're not completely surrendered to Him. So, right now to whatever extent we're attached to Him, our mind receives His grace. Our mind, to the same percentage, gets purified and develops good qualities and reduces bad qualities and in the very same amount receives ābhās or reflection of Krishna's Divine blissfulness. Ultimately, when one fully surrenders to Sri Krishna, then they attain the perfect state of union with Him.That perfect state of union can be realized in one of two main ways:* One is when you receive a Divine body, senses and mind and you go to the Divine world, just like you see depicted on some of these beautiful panels here in the mandir, you go to His Divine abode with Him in Divine Vrindavan, Divine Golok. And over there in His Divine abode, because you have a body and He has a body, you can see each other, talk to each other. You can embrace. You can be with Krishna in any way you want, play games or serve Him. This is one way of realizing God.* Another way of realizing the state of perfect union is not to have a Divine body, senses or mind. In that case, just your soul merges into Krishna's formless aspect. So this is called ‘såyuja mukti’. In this state, you don't actually get to experience anything because your mind no longer exists. You didn't get a Divine mind and your material mind finished because it was material, mayic, and now the mayic influence and bondage over you is finished. Your body was also mayic. You left that behind when you went to merge into God. So no mind or senses or body, just your pure original Divine soul. Then how would you experience anything? The soul needs faculties with which to experience. The soul needs senses. Soul needs a mind and a body in order to realize its potential to experience. The soul itself is the one with the potential to know, hear, see, experience, but without those faculties (you’re not going to be able to do anything). Just like you have an engine of a car but that car engine isn't connected to an axle with wheels; and the car is revving up, it's alive. It has potential, it has power. But where are you going to go? Until you give that engine a drive shaft and the axle and some wheels, (where are you going to go)?Similarly the soul has the potential to do everything. The soul is full of life, Divine power, yet without a mind, senses and a body, ‘the rubber is not going to hit the road’. You're not going to be able to do anything, think anything, know anything, experience anything. Right now we have material faculties to experience this world. After God realization, we could get Divine faculties to experience God and the Divine world. But some people ask for pure, ‘only liberation’; it's called ‘kaivalya mukti’ or ‘sayujya mukti’. So in that case, you actually do lose your individuality, although you don't cease to exist. But let's say you are a drop of water and you enter the ocean. Did you cease to exist? No, the drop of water didn't cease to exist. That molecule of H2o is still there, but practically it lost its individuality when it merged into the ocean. Similarly, you as a soul will never cease to exist, but if you merge into formless God in that state of ‘kaivalya moksh’, for all practical purposes your individuality is finished. You merged just like a drop of water into the ocean never to do anything or experience anything ever again. Do you still exist? Yes, your soul still exists as an individual entity. But just like the drop of water that lost its practical identity when it merged into the ocean, you practically lose your identity when you merge into formless God.So these are the two main options in the Divine world. Luckily for us, we have a choice.A devotee is asking: I hear about curses when you read our scriptures, Ramayan, Mahabharat. We always hear about this Rishi giving this curse, this person getting that curse, even God gets cursed. So they want to know what is that about? Is a curse a bad thing? Why does it happen in our scriptural history? So, let's look at the actual meaning of the word shrāp, which means curse. Shrāp in Sanskrit comes from the word ‘shreya prad’. ‘Prad’ means denewala (giver). ‘Shreya’ means ‘sabse achha’. ‘Apne hit ki bāt (talks about our best interests). ‘Shreya’ means our ultimate good and ‘prad’ means that which gives. So ‘shreya prad’ or a curse, shrāp means that which leads to something good happening.Let me give you an example: One time Narada ji came to Shri Krishna with pride that you know, “I was sitting and doing devotion and then Kam Dev, the material God of love, he came with all his

Q & A with Swami Maheshvaranand Ji: 05/26/24_Part 2

Watch video at: https://www.radhakrishnaprem.com/p/q-and-a-with-swami-maheshvaranandThe Q&A revolves around various aspects of devotion, meditation, and spiritual practice, particularly focusing on the Roop Dhyan of Maharaj Ji, Radharani, and Shri Krishna. Here are the key points discussed:Interchangeability of Focus: It's perfectly acceptable for the focus during Roop Dhyan to shift between Maharaj Ji, Radharani, and Shri Krishna, as they are all considered one and the same.Understanding the Divine Forms: The physical representations of Radha Krishna are merely artistic interpretations, and the true essence of their forms transcends material depictions.Importance of Roop Dhyan: The practice of Roop Dhyan, whether focused on Radharani, Shri Krishna, or Maharaj Ji, serves the same purpose and yields equal benefits.Significance of Aarti: Aarti is not merely a physical ritual but a deeply spiritual practice meant to evoke heartfelt devotion and visualization of the divine forms.Hierarchy of Devotion: While Madhurya bhava (the mood of a lover) is appropriate for Shri Krishna, other forms of devotion like Dasya bhava (servant mood) and Sakhya bhava (friendship mood) are more suitable for Radharani.Practical Tips for Roop Dhyan: Practicing Radhe Naam Jap involves focusing on the breath and mentally chanting "Ra" on inhalation and "Dhe" on exhalation. Consistent practice is key to overcoming distractions and boredom.Detachment and Charity: The discussion extends to the importance of detachment and the futility of leaving behind material possessions for one's children, emphasizing that everything is ultimately governed by divine will.Unity in Devotion: Radhe Radhe chanting can encompass devotion to Shri Krishna, Radharani, and Maharaj Ji, as they are regarded as one and the same, allowing for a fluid interchange of focus. The dialogue underscores the universality of devotion and the practical application of spiritual principles in daily life. The Importance of God's Name: Part 2

Watch video at: https://www.radhakrishnaprem.com/p/the-importance-of-gods-name-partSushree Diwakari Devi Ji begins by quoting Chaitanya Mahaprabhuji’s teaching about the deep emotional connection that should accompany the chanting, "Oh Krishna, I am longing for that day when while singing Your Divine name, tears of love and longing will flow from my eyes!" This reflects the ideal devotional state, where the act of chanting is infused with deep love and longing for Krishna.Goswami Tulsidas also expresses this yearning, stating that ‘those eyes that have shed so many tears for the world, if they do not shed tears of love for Radha Krishna, then they should be packed with mitti (dirt)’. Didi ji reflects that even if we don't experience such tears immediately, chanting still has immense value, and we should not be disheartened: "We don't have to destroy our eyes...”, Tulsidas ji is only expressing the humble feelings of his heart."Didi Ji also shares an insightful story of a devotee who tried to follow Chaitanya Mahaprabhuji’s instruction to chant with tears of longing, but was unable to produce tears. In his sincere attempt, the devotee resorted to ‘touching a piece of cloth with chili powder to his eyes to force tears’ which was noticed by others and reported to Mahaprabhuji. The response from Mahaprabhuji was, "You are complaining about him, but he understands and realizes the importance of my instruction!" This story underscores that the true value lies in understanding the teaching and sincerely following it, even if the emotional experience isn’t there immediately. The speaker goes on to highlight that chanting the Divine name, even without the ideal emotional state, still holds transformative power. Scriptures say that even when ‘someone sings the Divine name jokingly or yawns while saying it, they will still receive benefit’. The Bhagwatam affirms this idea, stating that ‘it doesn’t matter how we chant the Divine name, we will receive the benefit of chanting it’. This is echoed by Adi Jagadguru Shankaracharya who says, "Whether we say it with shraddha (faith) or without faith, if we just simply remember and chant and sing the Divine name, that we will get the benefit." Tulsidasji also supports this notion saying, "Whether we say it with love or without love, with feelings or no feelings, just singing the Divine name, yes, we will receive the benefit."Sushree Diwakari Devi Ji affirms that the goal of devotion is to experience perfect love for Radha Krishna, transcending the material world. She concludes with a quote from Goswami Tulsidas who says, "The name of Sri Krishna is so extremely sweet. It is in none other practice, whether it's jap, tap, or niyam." Remembrance through chanting is essential on the path to achieving ultimate Divine love, "Remembrance is essential! It’s extremely important! The Divine name is a Divine power."Memorable Quotes from the Discourse:"Oh Krishna, I am longing for that day when while chanting Your Divine name, tears of love will flow from my eyes.""O Krishna, I am longing for that day when while longing for Your Divine vision, this whole world will seem dull and tasteless.""Those eyes that have shed so many tears for the world, if those eyes do not shed tears of love for Radha Krishna, then they should be packed with mitti (dirt)." (“We don't have to destroy our eyes...”, Tulsidas ji is only expressing the humble feelings of his heart.)"It doesn’t matter how we chant the Divine name, we will receive the benefit of chanting it.""Whether we say it with shraddha (faith) or without faith, if we just simply remember and chant and sing the Divine name, we will get the benefit.""Whether we say it with love or without love, with feelings or no feelings, just singing the Divine name, yes, we will receive the benefit.""The ras, the sweetness and the madhurima and the garima and the bliss that is in the Divine name of Shri Krishna, in the name of Gopal, it is in none other practice.Whether … the practice may be, jap, tap, niyam, all, any other kind of practice, the name of Sri Krishna is so extremely sweet.""Remembrance is essential. It’s extremely important. The Divine name is a Divine power.""But if our heart does not melt while chanting Their Divine name, then our heart is useless. What's the point of it?""The first reason is that when Saints, God-realized Saints, Mahapurush, from their very elevated state of Divine love consciousness, when they sing the Divine name or whether they hear the Divine name, they say from their very elevated state of consciousness they say, “It doesn’t matter; just sing the Divine name!""Chaitanya Mahaprabhuji used to lead the satsang of Harinam sankirtan, the chanting of the Divine name; it was his agya (instruction). It was his instruction to his devotees that while chanting the Divine name, they should shed tears of love and longing and yearning and separation."More DiscoursesHow to advance SpirituallyPlease watch the video or read the transcript to

Q & A with Swami Maheshvaranand Ji: 05/26/24_Part 1

Watch video at: https://www.radhakrishnaprem.com/p/q-and-a-with-swami-maheshvaranand-1The Q&A revolves around various aspects of devotion, meditation, and spiritual practice, particularly focusing on the Roop Dhyan of Maharaj Ji, Radharani, and Shri Krishna. Importance of God's Name: Part 1

Watch video at: https://www.radhakrishnaprem.com/p/importance-of-gods-name-part-1Sushree Diwakari Devi Ji explains that the wisdom of Jagadguru Shree Kripalu Ji Maharaj, who teaches that devotion through chanting the Divine names, is one of the most accessible and powerful ways to grow spiritually. If one chants with a heart full of love and longing, it can bring them closer to the Divine. The power of the Divine name is supported by quotes from sacred texts. For instance, the Bhakti Rasamrit Sindhu, written by Roop Goswami, teaches that sankirtan (chanting the Divine names together) is the highest form of devotion. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu also emphasized how chanting the Divine name can purify one’s heart, ease worldly struggles, and fill one with Divine joy.Sushree Diwakari Devi Ji shared the main understanding that the Divine name is even more powerful than God Himself. For example, a story is told where Satyabhama, a devotee of Krishna, learns that the name has greater potency than Krishna Himself. This is because the Divine name has the ability to transcend the material world. This is why it’s so central in the practice of devotion.By sincerely and constantly remembering God’s name, one can purify their heart and overcome the distractions of the material world. Devotion to the Divine name provides a path to spiritual fulfillment and bliss.Memorable Quotes from the Discourse:* "All we have to do is call out to Sri Radha Krishna through Their Divine names with a heart filled with yearning and longing."* "The Divine name purifies the mirror of our heart. It subsides the agonizing fire of the material mind. It develops the cool effulgence of Divine love. It brings forth Divine knowledge. And it sprouts the bliss of Krishna love that brings contentment, satisfaction, inner joy at every step of our life."* "The Divine name of God is the only truth in this world. Everything else is an illusion."* "The Divine name of God is greater than God Himself. Greater than God Himself? Yes, it is greater than God Himself, but not from the perspective of philosophy. Siddhant remains the same. It does not change. But from the point of view, from the perspective of our benefit, our devotional benefit, the Divine name of God is greater."* "In this age of Kalyug, it is only the Divine name that prevails."* "There is this huge, vast, endless ocean of maya. And in this ocean, there is a refuge. And what is that? It's the Divine name of God. It is a boat in this vast ocean of maya, the Divine name of God. So if we take refuge in that Divine name, then it will get us across. We will be able to cross this ocean of maya and reach Shri Krishna.”* "If we bring the Divine name of God in our heart and remember that Divine name with love and affection and affinity, then not only this life, our future life will also become devotionally prosperous."* "God himself cannot describe the greatness of his own Divine name."These quotes all highlight the significance of chanting God's name and the power of devotion in spiritual practices. Please watch the video or read the transcript to fully grasp the essence of the discourse. Is the Mind a Master or a Servant?

Wath video at: https://www.radhakrishnaprem.com/p/is-the-mind-a-master-or-a-servantSushree Diwakari Devi Ji addresses the challenge of controlling the mind on the spiritual journey. On the spiritual journey, many of us struggle with controlling our minds. In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna tells Arjun, "You must give your mind to Me and your intellect to Me." The mind has two states: thinking (man) and decision-making (buddhi). The analogy of a chariot is used: the human body is the chariot, the horses are the sense organs, the reins are the mind, the intellect is the charioteer, and the soul is the passenger. The mind is like a servant to the intellect. It must follow the intellect’s guidance. Even when we don’t feel like it, we still perform tasks because the intellect has decided we must. The mind cannot revolt against the intellect's decisions. Didi Ji says our minds are conditioned to believe happiness lies in material pursuits, like a worm returning to filth. This happens because "the mind is accustomed to loving the hollow and illusionary pleasures of this world."There’s a story where a disciple asked his Guru why he couldn't focus on meditation, even though he tried hard. The Guru showed him how the mind, just like an insect, is conditioned to seek out what it knows, even if it's harmful. The reason we struggle to meditate is that the intellect still believes "happiness... exists in material things." To overcome this, we need to train the intellect to understand that "true happiness lies in God." Once the intellect understands this truth, the mind will naturally follow its guidance. This is why we must engage in spiritual practice, train our intellect, and align it with Divine knowledge. We have this human body to elevate ourselves, not to remain stuck in the cycle of birth and death. When we allow ignorance to rule, "our mind is our worst enemy," but with knowledge, "that mind will become our best friend." We have the potential to change our lives, and this is why we must use the teachings given to us wisely. We must integrate this knowledge into our lives to experience true joy.Memorable Quotes from the Discourse:"Most individuals encounter a common challenge. They find themselves troubled by their own mind. They lament, “Oh, my mind does not cooperate with me. My mind doesn't listen to me. My mind tells me to go to sleep. My mind wavers. My mind distracts me!” This gives rise to a question: How can one take control of their mind?""Shri Krishna tells Arjun, 'You must give your mind to Me and your intellect to Me.'""Arjuna thought, 'Well, I only have one thing, and that is my mind. And Sri Krishna is asking me and telling me to give both, the mind and the intellect.'""The same mind has two states: When the mind is thinking, when the mind is contemplating, it is called the mind or man in Hindi. And when the mind is making decisions, then that mind is known as the intellect or buddhi in Hindi.""The Lord says that I have, speaking to us souls, I have given you a chariot. And the chariot is being pulled by horses. In the mouth of the horses are the reins held by the driver or the charioteer. And on this chariot, there is a passenger.""The chariot is this human body that we all possess, that we have received with great fortune. The horses are the sense organs. And the reins of the horses are the mind. And the charioteer, the driver, is the intellect. And the passenger is the soul.""The mind cannot revolt against the decision of the intellect. The mind must follow the dictates of the intellect.""The mind is ever engaged in chasing the world and the sensory objects of the world, limited to our five physical senses. We're always chasing.""Just like this worm is conditioned to loving excrement, thinking there is nothing better. In the same way, the mind, our mind is accustomed to loving, to having affinity for the hollow and illusionary pleasures of this world.""The reason that you cannot sustain meditation on God is because your intellect has ruled that happiness, in fact, does exist in material things.""We have been given this body so that we can utilize this gift for our betterment, and to purify ourselves.""That's why Shree Maharaj Ji tells us that when we practice sadhana, we must reason with our intellect. We must contemplate, we must reflect. We must think what is most important to us and how can we experience that true bliss that true joy that we are consistently aspiring for.""Why else have we been given this birth? To keep to set ourselves up again, and be thrown in that cycle of life and death and reincarnate into lower forms to suffer for an immeasurable length of time? No!""We have been given this body so that we can utilize this gift for our betterment, and to purify ourselves."“That's why Shree Maharaj Ji says, “When we're overcome by ignorance, then our mind is our worst enemy. And when we avail ourselves of knowledge, then that mind will become our best friend.” So we can choose which we want

The Real Essence of Spirituality

Watch video at: https://www.radhakrishnaprem.com/p/for-review-the-essence-is-lostSushree Diwakari Devi Ji highlights that across all scriptures, whether the Vedas, the Ramayan, or other texts, all unanimously declare that bhakti, or devotion, is the easiest and most accessible path to realizing God. However, this devotion must come from the heart and cannot merely be about external rituals or physical actions. True devotion involves the mind, and it is essential to engage both the mind and the senses in the practice of bhakti. She underscores that simply performing rituals, chanting, or physical acts without a sincere connection to God is not true devotion. The focus is on the inner surrender of both the heart and mind to God, where genuine bhakti means devotion that arises from deep within, not just surface-level actions. To explain this point, Didi Ji uses the analogy of dipping a sealed bottle of impure water into the Ganges River. Despite being immersed in the holy water, the bottle’s contamination won’t be cleansed because the water cannot reach the inside of the bottle. Similarly, a person who only engages in physical rituals without involving the mind cannot truly cleanse their sins or achieve spiritual progress.Furthermore, Didi Ji stresses that just performing rituals without a mindful connection to the practice is meaningless. The real essence of spirituality lies in the active involvement of the mind, and this connection cannot be forced or superficial. She also mentions that if one follows the teachings of their Guru and applies those teachings sincerely in everyday life, that devotion will lead to genuine spiritual growth. In essence, Diwakari Didi Ji emphasizes the importance of a devoted heart and mind, pointing out that the external forms of devotion or spirituality are meaningless without this deep inner commitment. True spiritual progress depends on engaging the mind and heart in every practice, and that’s what leads to a real connection with God.Memorable Quotes from the Discourse:* "All the scriptures, from the Vedas to the Ramayan, unanimously declare bhakti (devotion) as the single path of Divine love realization."* "So, all the scriptures they declare bhakti or devotion as the easiest and the most accessible path to realize God."* "However, it must be done from the heart and not merely performed by our physical senses. Yes, of course, we can engage our physical senses, they are our helpers after all, but it must be in tandem with the mind. This is mandatory. It is imperative if we desire to gain spiritual success, make progress."* "People do kirtan- bhajan, they go on pilgrimage, they chant on jap beads, they do recitation of scriptural texts, engage in prayer. But what is the use of mere recitation of letters?"* "What is the mere repetition of words going to earn us? It is said in the Gita, “Surrender to me.” Who is saying this? Krishna. And who is he saying it to? Arjun. And why is he saying it to Arjun? To make Arjuna submit, to make Arjun surrender to Him."* “"Oh Arjun, you give your mind to Me and your intellect. You submit both to Me. Surrender to Me.” Yes, it doesn’t mean that we should just keep on repeating, “I am surrendered, I am surrendered.” Absolutely not."* "So upasana, or the word sadhana means to take our mind close to God."* "If there is a fire 50 feet away at a distance of 50 feet and you are feeling cold, yes, then what to do? Well, move 10 feet closer to the fire. Oh, yes, feeling better, much better. Feel the warmth. Well, move 20 feet closer to even get the benefit of the temperature even more."* "But if you are standing 50 feet away from the fire with your arm extended, you would most definitely doubt the presence of the fire. You will say, 'Well, I had my arm out for so long, but I felt nothing. The cold did not dissipate.' Yes, how can it go away? You have to move closer to the fire. Right? In the same way, we have to bring our mind to God."* "It is the mind that has to be submerged in Ganga with devotion for the Supreme God, overwhelmed thinking that I am bathing in the holiest of the holy waters of Ganga that came after washing the lotus feet of the Lord."* "So it is the mind that has to be submerged, and only then we will be able to absolve ourselves of our sins."* "This knowledge, it applies to any and every spiritual practice. We must practice with our mind. That is a fundamental teaching of our Divine Vedic scriptures."* "What do people do when they go on pilgrimage to Haridwar and to these places of pilgrimage to bathe in Gangaji? What do they do? They they only just soak their body physically. They go inside with their mind miles away."* "Wherever our mind is, that becomes the object of our devotion."* "It is the mind that has to be engaged in practice. So the next time we go to take a dip in Gangaji, we should do this so with our mind from our heart."* "The teachings that my Gurudev Jagadguruttam Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj has abundantly and so generously

Grace and Only Grace: Part 2

Watch video at: https://www.radhakrishnaprem.com/p/grace-and-only-grace-part-2In this discourse, Sushree Diwakari Devi Ji focused on the teachings of Shri Kripalu ji Maharaj emphasizing the nature of true happiness, spiritual growth, and devotion to God. Diwakari Devi Ji begins by explaining the fleeting nature of worldly happiness and contrasts it with the eternal, infinite happiness that comes from spiritual realization and devotion to God. According to the teachings, this happiness is found within the soul and cannot be attained through material pursuits.Nar tanu guru sang Govind RadheyPrem pipasa tino lakshya dila deDidi Ji says that Shree Maharaj Ji in this Doha reveals that there are three types of Grace: "nartanu" (human life and body), "Guru sangh" (spiritual guidance) about which she talked about in part 1 of her speech. The third grace is "pipasa" (thirst or hunger for knowledge). Didi Ji then emphasizes the rarity of human life and the importance of using this opportunity to connect with God through devotion and remembrance. The third grace, "pipasa," refers to the intense longing for spiritual knowledge, which is compared to the hunger of a beggar who does not give up despite rejection. DidiJi stresses that this longing, driven by an insatiable desire for truth, is the key to spiritual progress. The ultimate goal of the path is to achieve a deep connection with God, and this requires cultivating faith and love. Didi Ji concludes by urging the devotees to nurture their longing for God and to deepen their spiritual practice, as the blessings of God and the guidance of the Guru are essential in reaching the divine realization. The talk serves as an encouragement to keep faith, engage in devotion, and intensify the spiritual journey with the guidance of a true Guru.Memorable Quotes from the Discourse:* "Every individual soul, from a tiny ant all the way to Brahma aspires for happiness."* "Whatever we consider happiness in the world only depletes and diminishes with the passage of time."* "That happiness is infinite, it is unlimited, it is immeasurable, it is never overcome by death and sickness or illness, and anything like that."* "So Shri Maharaj Ji tells us that we have been running in the wrong direction."* "And in regards to naratanu, this human life, this human body that we have, been granted by God's mercy."* "This third Grace of God, it manifests as an insatiable hunger, a desperate yearning to understand and seek the truth."* "So knowledge itself takes the form of love, where an individual, an aspirant, desires to visualize, to meet God."* "So the obstacle lies not in God's Divine presence. No, it lies in the lack of our faith and awareness. That's where the problem is."* "So to really know God, all we have to do, Shri Maharaja simplifies it so much for us, all we have to do is just look within with full faith and conviction, knowing that he's already there."* "Devotional love is proof of knowledge, and vanity and pride are signs of ignorance."* "So, if you have found the true path, the authentic path, you can proceed rapidly on your path toward God. But if your path is incorrect, you may spend your entire life treading that path, but to no avail because the path itself is misleading."* "He's (God) easily accessible to the one who has a longing heart for Him, who has an intensely longing heart for Him."* "A true lover of God always remains in that intense feeling of longing and love for God. That ultimately culminates in the realization of God's Divine vision."* "So Goswami Tulsi Das ji says that knowledge appears as faith and according to the intensity of that faith, one desires to meet God. And that desire or longing is known as love."The wisdom shared through these quotes highlights the profound journey of faith, longing, and Divine realization. It reminds us that the path to spiritual enlightenment is not defined by mere rituals or superficial practices, but by an intense and unwavering desire to connect with the Divine. Through devotion, patience, and surrender to God's will, we can transcend the limitations of this world and attain the eternal bliss that our souls truly seek. Please watch the video or read the transcript to fully grasp the essence of the discourse. Please note that the transcript has not been proofread. New Year: A Time for Self Introspection

Watch video at: https://www.radhakrishnaprem.com/p/new-year-a-time-for-self-introspectionSushree Diwakari Devi Ji begins by reflecting on how people celebrate the new year. While many focus on fun and personal resolutions like losing weight or saving money, Didi Ji questions if we've truly considered the passage of time. Every year that passes means less time for spiritual growth. She emphasizes that life is a limited opportunity to practice devotion and strive for spiritual progress.Reflecting on spiritual life is crucial; people often focus on material advancement, neglecting their spiritual wealth. Time should be used to cultivate devotion to God, a wealth that remains intact beyond this life. Sushree Diwakari Devi Ji urges introspection to assess virtues like humility, tolerance, and devotion, and to acknowledge the importance of using this human life for spiritual purposes.Didi Ji compares the attachment to the world with the attachment to God, stating that true spirituality lies in cultivating love for God, or "bhakti." The importance of reflecting on our virtues and vices is stressed to ensure we live a life that progresses spiritually. She reminds that human life offers the opportunity to elevate ourselves, and celebrating the new year should be about spiritual advancement and growth in devotion to God.Lastly, Sushree Diwakari Devi Ji encourages attending satsang more frequently and prioritizing spiritual fulfillment over fleeting worldly joys. This is the true path to lasting inner peace and joy.Memorable Quotes from the Discourse:* "We need to reflect on where we stand in our spiritual life."* "We are the soul, not this outer physical body, this shell."* "We should refuse to celebrate the new year frivolously."* "We need to think, we need to understand, God has given us intelligence."* "This human life is our only opportunity to elevate ourselves through spiritual practice."* "We always look for that experience in the wrong place. If we could only try seeking it in the right place, we would experience so much inner peace and contentment and joy and satisfaction."* "God has given us this vehicle, this human body, so that we can practice devotion and ultimately find solace in God's love."* "We need to think about tolerance."* "We have spent majority of our time towards material advancement and have earned nothing spiritually."* "We need to analyze where we have gone wrong and how we can improve."* "Spiritual wealth never gets demonetized."* "Attachment to God essentially is the core of spirituality."* "We don't need to learn... we already love. We are creatures of love."* "So when we cultivate that (love) toward God, then that is known as bhakti, devotion."These quotes remind us of the eternal search for Divine fulfillment, urging us to deepen our faith and longing, so that we may one day experience the boundless grace of God.Please note that the transcript has not been proofread. We Must Renounce Worldly Desires

There is one mind. It is the doer of every action. It continuously creates desires day and night because the soul seeks real happiness, the bliss of God. The mind keeps making desires through the five senses to fulfill that innate longing for ultimate bliss (the desire to see, hear, smell, taste, and touch). There are only two areas - God and maya. Thus, the mind will create desires in only one of these two areas. If the intellect decides that there is no happiness in the world and that happiness is only in God, then it will naturally desire God without being taught. But presently:* Our intellect has decided that there is happiness in the world. Whatever decision the intellect has made, the mind has to work on it and has to create that desire.* The world is visible to us, and God is beyond our intellect. He is not visible to us. The mind gets attracted to that which can be perceived.* Our senses are naturally inclined towards the world as they are made of the five gross elements, and the material world is also made of the same five gross elements. Hence, they are of the same nature. So, no matter what the Vedas, scriptures, Puranas, and Saints say (about God), the senses cannot grasp them. However, the world can be grasped by these senses. That's why this mind easily creates desires for the world. Our desire for the true bliss of God will arise when we give up worldly desires. And we can let go of worldly desires only when it becomes firmly established in the intellect that there is no happiness in the world. To make this conviction of the intellect firm:* We must guide our intellect according to the knowledge of the Vedas and the scriptures. We must repeatedly contemplate philosophical knowledge. God created this world for the body. Both the body and the world are made of the five gross elements. The soul is Divine. The soul's happiness lies not in the world but only in God. Even Indra, the king of heaven, desires the position of Brahma because he remains restless, not having attained the true bliss of the soul.* We must also understand through our practical experience that our miserable condition persists despite attaining worldly pleasures thousands of times. Every time we acquire something in the world, we initially experience momentary happiness. Then, it keeps diminishing until it vanishes entirely, and after that, that very thing begins to cause sorrow. When we face problems in the world, we make desires for God. But when worldly people deceive us again by promising happiness, we move towards the world again. Everyone in this world is selfish. We should always understand that until we attain God, no one can desire another's happiness.Friendship or enmity also becomes firm by repeatedly thinking about it. Similarly, we must repeatedly believe that only God and Guru are ours. Our welfare lies only in Them. By such repeated contemplation of philosophical knowledge, we have to remove this conviction that "there is happiness in the world." When we realize that our self-interest is in God and Guru, natural attachment will happen without anyone teaching us.“Therefore, O mind! Remove the worldly desires from your mind and attach yourself to God and Guru.” When brought into the mind, these two pure entities will purify it. The entire world is filled with the three modes of nature and sins. Attachment to it will only pollute the mind further. If the mind does not get attached to God and Guru immediately, practice repeatedly. Understand the philosophical knowledge and repeatedly remove the mind from the world and attach it to God. By doing this over and over again, the mind will start getting attached to Them. Through repeated practice, the mind gets attached even to inert worldly objects. On the other hand, God is an ocean of bliss. By repeatedly attaching the mind to Him, we will begin experiencing bliss, and then we will never be able to leave Him.Please watch the video or read the transcript to fully grasp the essence of the discourse. Please note that the transcript has not been proofread. Grace and Only Grace: Part 1

In this discourse Sushree Diwakari Devi Ji explains that grace is selfless, causeless, and beyond human comprehension, contrasting it with worldly acts of kindness that often have hidden motives. She emphasizes that true grace comes only from God or Saints, who serve selflessly without expecting anything in return. The lecture highlights the rare and precious nature of the human birth, which is considered the highest form of existence among the 8.4 million species. The human life offers an opportunity for spiritual progress, unlike animals that live by instinct and cannot perform spiritual actions. Didi Ji urges individuals to recognize the unique blessing of a human body and avoid wasting it on material pursuits.Sushree Diwakari Devi Ji compares the human journey to a drop of water seeking its return to the ocean, symbolizing the soul's longing for reunion with the Divine. Ultimately, Didi Ji encourages the devotees to act immediately in their spiritual pursuits, as human life is fleeting and unpredictable. The discourse is a call to seize the opportunity for spiritual growth, guided by a Divine personality, before it is too late.Memorable Quotes from the Discourse:* On Grace:* “Grace means favor without expecting anything in return.”* “Truly speaking, grace is causeless and it is selfless. And this is something that is impossible to comprehend in the world because anything that we do has a motive behind.”* “So only those who have attained that perfect happiness, that unlimited happiness, that immeasurable happiness can serve selflessly and causelessly. Thus, only saints and God can serve the souls selflessly and causelessly.”* On Human Birth:* “So this human body that we have is the highest and the greatest and the rarest among the 8.4 million species of living beings.”* “So he tells us after millions and millions of births, we have received this precious life. And instead of chasing material trinkets, leading this life in pursuit of material pleasures, strive instead to attain the highest and the greatest and the ultimate Divine experience.”* On the Guru:* “So through the help through the guidance of a Guru a true spiritual guide we can navigate the waters of existence and make our way back to the embrace of our Divine beloved.”* On Material vs. Spiritual Progress:* “So in essence, granting material possessions is not grace. Granting Divine love to elevate and to uplift is grace.”* On Time and the Urgency of Spiritual Practice:* “Shree Maharajji forges us forward on the path of devotion, reminding us repeatedly that time is running out, time is short. Yes. And that we should give up our negligence. We should grow up. We should get our act together. Because time is short.”* “So the opportunity to meet a God realized personality is a blessing beyond measure. And we should not, we must not let it go to waste.”* On Karma and Human Life:* “Simply put, these souls, these animals, are receiving and enduring their karma that they earned from those actions that they performed as human beings.”* “In contrast, the human life offers the opportunity to perform new actions and earn spiritual merit and this is what the celestial gods desire. They desire the privilege we have; they desire to engage in sadhana so they can also reach and attain their goal of Divine love realization.”* On the Ocean and the Drop (Spiritual Return):* “Oh, ocean, my refuge! My refuge, I am ashamed of my past transgressions. Separated from You, I have known no peace whatsoever, shedding tears of anguish day and night.”* “I have awaited Your return since the moment You first danced with the wind. And it was I who sent the river to bring You back to me. Now come into my embrace, for You and I are one.”These quotes encapsulate the essential themes of the lecture: the importance of Divine grace, the preciousness of human life, the role of a Guru in spiritual progress, and the urgency of engaging in spiritual practice to realize our ultimate connection with the Divine. Please watch the video or read the transcript to fully grasp the essence of the discourse. Please note that the transcript has not been proofread. Even Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiv (of this brahmand) are captivated by the 'time' (kal), then where do you stand? Having received this priceless human body, why are you wasting it on trifling worldly entertainments? Like a deaf and blind person, you don't heed to the teachings and the warnings of Saints and remain infatuated in material happiness."Sometime soon I will start devotion," saying so (you prolong your time but you never do it. If you don't do it) your life will finish and you will be the most sorrowful person. You see in the world, that peoples' lives and fortunes are finished in a moment.
